“Highly Recommended!”

Put simply - a great location, great rooms, great food and great hospitality.

I would highly recommend the Avalon to anyone looking to stay in the Tintagel area. My partner and I stayed for two days last weekend whilst we were attending a wedding in nearby Camelford. Both of us are very well travelled so have a good base to judge these things.

We stayed in a standard double room facing the village and countryside. Whilst the bedroom and ensuite bathroom were not massive, they were more than adequate for our needs and were well furnished and comfy. In fact I had the best two nights sleep I have had for a while! The toiletries provided were an added bonus too!

The breakfast menu is extensive considering there are only 7 rooms. In line with the other reviews, I'd have to say that the porridge is fab and comes with cream too (naughty but nice!) The other options are all delicious too!

One thing that makes the Avalon shine above others is the warm welcome from Peter and Julie who do everything to make you welcome during your stay!

The Avalon is not the cheapest place to stay in Tintagel but in my opinion it is well worth that little bit extra.

“Cosy and welcoming”

The Avalon Guest House

17 May 2008

We spent the bank holiday weekend in this quaint and special guest house. Julie and Peter greeted us with warm smiles as we pulled up the drive. Their welcome was warm but not over the top. Our room overlooked the ruins of King Arthur's castle and we had a glimpse of the ocean beyond. The room was tastefully decorated and while the ensuite was compact it was stylish and immaculately clean. It was no problem that we only wanted to stay two nights over the bank holiday. This was a big plus for us because some other places requested a three night minimum over this period. The Avalon doesn't do dinner but the breakfasts are worth getting out of bed for. There is a lovely balance of fresh fruit and cereals to keep you busy while waiting for one of the outstanding options on the menu. We both started with porridge made with cream and served with a delightful sugar crust - just like a creme brulee! It was so good we had the same on our second morning. This was follwed by poached eggs cooked to perfection while my partner had a bagel with salmon and cream cheese. The guest house is situated in the heart of Tintagel and there is a regular bus service to nearby Boscastle. From here you can follow a breathtaking coastal walk back to town. This guest house is pleasant and the owners are obviously committed to ensuring you have a restful and stess free stay. They're always on hand to help whether it's giving you a hand with your luggage or suggesting activities during your stay. A little gem in North Cornwall.

Just returned from a three-night stay at the Avalon, and, like all the other reviewers, we absolutely loved it. The rooms are beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and stocked with everything you need from tea & biscuits to a hairdryer to a flat screen TV. Julie and Peter couldn't be more accommodating. We were traveling with our 18-month-old son, and they were so kind and thoughtful in their treatment of him and of us. They had a cot waiting in our room and a high chair set up for him at breakfast. And speaking of breakfast, it's delicious. Don't pass up the porridge.

“Lovely view, great breakfast, super bed, very clean and fresh”

The Avalon Guest House

6 Apr 2008

Saw the brilliant reviews on Tripadvisor for this place and booked for a couple of nights. We certainly weren't disappointed. Had a gorgeous view of Tintagel Island and the sea. The sunsets were breathtaking from the warmth of our room (bit nippy outside in April). The bed was so comfortable, with clean white crisp bed linen, single quilt each and two pillows each on our superkingsize bed. A decent sized wall mounted flat screen tv was brilliant. Plenty of room in the room and a CD player alarm clock was nice to listen to. The ensuite was fairly compact (certainly an en-suite rather than a bathroom) but the shower was excellent and everything was spotlessly clean. Plenty of natural light in the room to put makeup on and a hairdryer in the drawer of the chest of drawers is good news. Lovely fluffy bathroom robes was a super touch too.

Breakfast was gorgeous. Great choice and variety. The porridge is really scrummy and there is a great selection of dried and fresh fruit to have with yoghurts and cereals, in addition to various hot breakfasts such as full english breakfast, kippers or poached eggs on a muffin with nice crispy bacon, to name a few options.

Julie and Peter are so friendly and accomodating and I am sure that if there were any more that they could have done for us then they would have. However, there was no need to ask for anything as everything was fab.

We used the wireless internet with our laptop whilst we were there too, which was useful.

The Avalon no longer serve evening meals so we ate at Cafe Cream, just next door to The Avalon and the food was very very good. Definitely recommend it.

“Best B&B i've ever stayed in!”

The Avalon Guest House

18 Mar 2008

We booked a night in the Avalon after reading great reviews on Tripadvisor and it surpassed our expectations! We arrived early (about 2pm) but were welcomed warmly and shown to our room straight away. We stayed in room 7 on the top floor which was a beautifully decorated room with AMAZING views over Tintagel island and Castle. No chintz or tat in this place - everything has been decorated to the highest standards, flat screen TV in the room, comfy bed, tea, coffee and yummy biscuits. Everything had been thought of and considered. Breakfast the next day was delicious. The owners couldn't have been more friendly or accomodating. The weather was appalling when we were there but didn't spoil our stay as the room was so nice! If you were to stay there in the summer it will be amazing
