Was quite looking forward to going to the historic village of Clovelly, but unfortunatley when we got there - the cost to go in was very expensive. They are charging £5.95 per person to get into a village, there were 5 people in our group so this would have totalled nearly £30.00 (quite steep when this is just a street), another problem was that we had elderly grandparents with us - who we had planned to leave in a cafe/pub at the top of the street due to the steep hill and found it incredible that they would be charged for this privilege. The thing is we were planning on spending the morning here and then buying lunch which would have been around a good £80.00 spend - so the only people missing out here are the businesses in Clovelly! I live in a village and we don't charge people to enter, if we did no one would come here! Whilst we were parked there were several other couples who parked up and also turned away at the sight of the charges so its only the locals who are missing out. We wouldn't mind paying to park but if you had a family with a few children etc this could work out very costly!
