Stayed one night here with colleagues to attend a business event. First impressions were good with reception hall very impressive in a 30s art deco (ish) style. Receptionist also very helpful with a can do attitude. Booked in at 11am and was able to access room immediately ahead of my mid-day meeting in town.

Room was somewhat dissappointing. Slightly tired and bland decor. It reeked of smoke despite being designated a non smoking room. Reported this to reception who assured me they would leave the windows open/spray airfreshener and that the smell would be gone when I returned. It wasnt! (although it was much reduced). Bathroom very tired and hot shower wasnt as hot as i hoped for.

Didnt eat at the hotel but the bar was fine for a late night drink and again staff were friendly. Breakfast next day was a mix of buffet and waitress service for the cooked breakfast (which was quite good).

All in all a satisfactory stay although the rooms would benefit from new decor. There are better hotels in Exeter (Barcelona).

This hotel is conveniently located in town. We didn't need to hire a car to get around as we were able to walk pretty much everywhere. I found the rooms to be very clean and bright. The bedding was great. The bed was comfortable. The restaurant staff were courteous and friendly.

I would recommend staying here again.

We stayed for one night at a £70 bed and breakfast rate. The room we were allocated overlooked the main entrance, from which party and function-room revellers departed throughout the night. There was no double-glazing on windows and therefore no way of blocking out the noise. We eventually slept at about 3 a.m. Traffic woke us at 7 a.m. - the hotel is on the main Exeter shopping thoroughfare and thus prone to traffic noise too. We had specifically asked for a quiet room when we booked! Staff were reluctant to even look for another room to assist with the problem, which went unresolved. No parking can be found within 100 yards of the hotel. We waited 20 minutes to check out the next morning, owing to a queue of 6 guests and only one receptionist. A valiant attempt was made to charge us for breakfast, even though it had been included in our original contract with the hotel. Sorry to say it, but we would never go back.

With the children my wife and I had two nights at this hotel for an early bout of Christmas shopping. The initial problem was finding the hotel on the Exeter one-way system. Despite asking a couple of locals directions to the hotel - both said we were mad to drive in Exeter - it took some time to find the hotel. When we arrived we had booked an Executive Room I found it to be small and very hot. There was no air conditioning and no way of controlling the heating in the room. Advised by Reception there was nothing they could do but the heat would eventually turn off not very helpful I am afraid. The breakfast was reasonable but not particularly special. However, the staff were pleasant and efficient. The biggest plus point for the hotel was its proximity to the shopping centre only a couple of minutes walk.
