I stayed here for one night in Jan 2008, in a twin room. I booked through the Thistle hotels website, with the room costing around 80 pounds. This was my first visit to Exeter and the hotel could not have been in a better location. The Phoenix Arts Centre is a short stroll away, as are many shops and restaurants!
The rooms are of a decent size, with big bathrooms, and very clean. The only slight drawback was that we had to wait quite a while to check in as no rooms were ready. Quite a few other guests were also waiting.
We didn't eat at the hotel, but went to an Italian restaurant close by. Breakfast in the morning was quite nice.
Remember that parking at the hotel is 5 pounds per day!
I'd definately stay at this hotel again next time I visit Exeter.

My wife and I stayed at the Thistle Hotel in Exeter for one night to celebrate my birthday.

It was everything we could have asked for.

Having booked directly through the hotel, we got an excellent rate for a standard room, which was bright, spacious and clean with a lovely bathroom.

The hotel is perfectfully located in the centre of the city and the buffet breakfast was most welcome too.

A nice hotel in a nice city.

I stayed here for 1 night on a business trip. A very nice and modern hotel with a warm welcome feel as you enter its main doors. The lady at the Reception was nice and helpful. The room itself was nice, my only advise is for the hotel to:

1) Fit proper glass shower rail instead of the old style fabric shower curtains

2) Install a 21" LCD screens as the current one does not really do justice to the room

3) Better dusting regime around the bed headrest area by Housekeeping

Overall the hotel was a very nice stay, I did not try any food so can't offer any opinions.

Stayed for one night which was complimentary following a previous stay which was less than positive.

Following my last stay I contacted Thistle to give them some feedback and received a fast and positive response from the General Manager. I took him up on his offer of a complimentary night stay some 11 months after the initial offer yet he was still happy to honour it.

This time our room was great, on the 3rd floor, huge bed, great bathroom and a fruit basket!! nice touch!

We had a drink in the bar which was very pleasant, and breakfast which was great, lots of choice with a cooked breakfast made to order, no buffet which was a very welcome change!

So, overall a great visit, however got the feeling the room we had was far from a standard double, so would only go back if we stayed in a room of similiar standard again!
