We have just come back from a 2 night stay in the Rock House Hotel in Lynmouth and stayed in room 4. It was by far the best located hotel in the town with a brillant view from the bedroom. It was lovely just to relax and watch the sea. Everyone in the hotel was very friendly. The room was very clean and could not fault it at all. Breakfast was lovely and you could have as much or as little as you wanted. Lynmouth was beautiful and I would definately go again and stay in the Rock House Hotel.

We have just had an overnight stay at the Rock house hotel and was pleasently suprised, we stopped in room 4 that had great views of the bay and estuary. Everywhere was clean and tidy and we were well looked after by the staff. Eat in the bar resturant and our meals were excellent and well priced compared to other bars around. A very good place to stay if you want a short stay in Lynmouth as you can park at the hotel and just wander around the village as you like, will go back again sometime.

“Loved The Rock House & Loved Lynmouth”

Stayed in this lovely little hotel (Room2 - great views) end of June after a recommendation and was very pleased. The setting must be the best in Lynmouth - out on its own overlooking the town, harbour and sea and joined to the main 'drag' by a small private footbridge. We ate in their restaurant one night and although we were the only ones there, the food was excellent and definately worth trying. The manager, Tim Hart I think, was very professional, helpful, and a credit to the hotel. Lynmouth and the surrounding area is beautiful and The Rock House is a perfect base. We will return next year!

The hotel is in a beautiful location right next to the River Lyn and by the Harbour.
The bedroom was really comfortable and had everything we needed, fantastic view over the river Lyn to the harbour and the sound of the river at night was great.
We booked the hotel because they were dog friendly and they were.
We ate in the hotel a couple of nights the food was delicious and reasonably priced, our dog was able to lie by the table.
Adrian and his staff were very friendly and helpful. Great place to stay.
I hope we get the chance to stay again.

The Rock House Hotel is an 8 bedroomed 4 star AA rated hotel situated on the River Lyn.

We booked a 2 night stay to enable us to explore North Devon and we weren't disappointed.

We asked for a specific room after viewing all the rooms on the hotel's website and was really pleased with it. We overlooked the end of the river and the harbour. Fantastic view.

The bed was comfortable, the pillows nice and firm, tea and coffee provided along with towels and toiletries.

Breakfast is served fresh every morning and the decision is entirely yours on what you would like to eat.

The staff were always on hand and tried to help with any problems you had whatever they were, and were always friendly.

For dinner we ate in a little bistro called Eat Moor. The menu has a Spanish/Morrocan feel to it. We enjoyed the meal so much we went back on our other night. Expect to pay around £65 per couple for three courses and a bottle of wine.

We tried to get into the Rising Sun for a bar meal but there was no room and it tended to be a bit smoky. The restaurant here is fairly expensive, around £85 for two courses and wine.

Lynmouth is a lovely village and very quiet. None of the shops open until 10am (or later). Don't go to Lynmouth if you are expecting a nightlife, there isn't one. Given that it is May there was no children around, but I'm sure this changes in August.

One journey you must make whilst you are there is the railway up to Lynton and then the walk to the Valley of the Rocks. One word of warning, if you suffer from vertigo then don't take the North Walk there as it is a coastal path with no fences to protect you. The views once there are spectacular. Every corner produces a different view.
