Well what can I say! The whole experience was fantastic! Having never been on a walking holiday before we wondered what to expect - great walking, but not for the faint hearted, the area is very hilly, but affords great views once you get up there! The hotel caters for both walkers and non-walkers and Anne and Kelvin are the best hosts ever. They made us feel very welcome and the atmosphere is like home from home - with the added luxury of kelvin's cooking!! Anne is also a great host and will willing share her love and knowledge of the area, along with some advise about the walks. The room was lovely and comfortable, with all the added bits that make it special - fluffy robes, freeview tv, dvd player and a lovely power shower. Kelvin's cooking and the food is something to die for - eating out isn't as good when youv'e had Kelvin's food. Try the Duck - yum yum. Eating round the large dining table can be quite fazing to start with, but means you can share your day and get tips about the area from the other guests - it also stops the whispering that you tend to get when your sat at indivdual tables.

If you want a lovely hotel with the company and hospitality to match and your going to north Devon then give them a call!

“Amazing Views!”

We had a room overlooking the sea and cliffs further along the coast. The view was so fantastic that we were even up, enthusing about photographing the sunrise, from our bedroom window, very early on our first morning there! The hotel is very convenient as a base for walking, and the owners could not have been more helpful with suggestions about which walks would suit us. The room was a little cramped, with a temperamental shower, but that was eclipsed by everything else, and it was not expensive to stay there. We ate out in Lynton, where there are plenty of places within easy walking distance. We were able to park in the grounds and we sat and relaxed, reading on the patio and overlooking the magnificent view, one afternoon. The hotel is not far from the top of the funicular railway, so although we walked down the steep paths to Lynmouth a number of times, we took advantage of the train (£1.75 single) to save our legs and get us back up later on, and we would certainly recommend this route. A great place for a walking break.

We stayed here for a late anniversary treat and the whole experience was a real blessing to us. Although we are both born and bred in Devon (although haven't lived there now for 20+ years) we had never discovered North Walk before. North Walk House is in a truly stunning location with uninterrupted views across the Bristol Channel and along the exceptional Exmoor coast.
Our hosts were spot on, genuinely interested in making our stay a good experience but not overwhelming. Kelvin is an exceptional cook and to be honest we would go back there just for the food - and because my wife is an exceptionally brilliant cook herself we are probably quite difficult to please.
Room was lovely, very clean, great bathroom, we stayed in the most expensive one, and it was definitely worth the money.
I hesitate to tell all as I wouldn't want it to become too busy! Basically if you like somewhere that is homely, special, with great views and superb food - this is the place!

Stayed here in September and was blessed with a warm, sunny day. Hosts are funny and very helpful. Rooms were large, airy with beautiful views. Enormous bathroom and hardwood floors. Food was good and area is stunning. We only stayed a day but I would recommend at least two to fully enjoy Lynton and Lynmouth. Kelvin can suggested some short walks, day trips or just interesting places to visit. We are generally pretty picky but this place formed up to specs nicely....

“North Devon's best kept secret”

North Walk House

12 Jul 2006

North Walk House in Lynton has got to be the best kept secret in north Devon !
The rooms, the food, the location and the views are all top notch. It's not the cheapest B&B in Lynton, and it's far from the dearest either...but it's probably the best value...by miles.

This hotel has been carefully renovated by its current owners, Anne and Kelvin from an unloved pile to a superb place, retaining period features where appropriate, and modernising where not - but always with sympathy for the mid-Victorian building.

And the food...all locally sourced, all organic and all lovingly prepared and presented...is wonderful.

But that's not all; this place has two secret weapons. First, Anne and Kelvins' enthusiasm for making their guests' stay as enjoyable as possible. And second the dining room - where there is but one large, refectory style table at which everyone sits to eat. Now this is unusual, perhaps even unique in a holiday hotel, but it works. It's a great idea.

So, would I stay again. You bet !

And criticisms - just the one - having to leave to go home.
