My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful break at Woodlands this summer.

We went primarily for the walking on Exmoor and along the fantastic coast, for which Woodlands is ideally placed. The setting is lovely, quiet but convenient, set in the hill above the river with woodland views and direct access on foot to fantastic walks on and beyond the Watersmeet estate (NT). Yet only a few minutes walk along the Lynway footpath into Lynton for cafes, restaurants and local shops. Access by road to the A39 was easy when we wanted to travel further afield.

Peter and Carol made us most welcome from the start - friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Being summer 07 the weather was mixed, so it was helpful being able to access our room freely during the day occasionally. Rooms were unusually spacious, clean, and nicely furnished, with very comfy beds.

Breakfast was great and set us up well for a day's walking.

Being on the side of the Lyn Valley, gradients are steep so guests with walking difficulty could find the slope up to the house from the small car park tricky. However, for us this was a perfect base and we look forward to returning. Good value, too! Thankyou.

Carole & Peter were very welcoming with nothing too much trouble. The hotel has a scenic position with a lovely view from our window over the valley. The bedoom was large & very comfortable while the superb breakfasts gave you a good start for a days walking. We had good weather but the drying room proved very useful on the odd occasion. Definately a place to come back to!

“4 Day Stay at Woodlands”

Woodlands is situated a short walk from Lynton town centre. The owners of the guest house, Peter and Carole Hood, were extremely friendly and hospitable. The accommodation was spotless and the full English breakfasts each morning were amongst the best we have had. Lynton is a very hilly location and the approach to the hotel is up a bit of a hill. I would highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone wishing to stay in Lynton.
