We had a wonderful stay here. The views were amazing, lovely friendly hosts and a great english breakfast. The room was big, bright and spacious to accommodate both us and our daughter.

I stayed at the north cliff hotel in December for peace, quiet and great walking. When I arrive the receptionist Kate was really friendly and welcoming. She explained all the great spots to go walking and all the places to go out in Lynton and Lynmouth
Unfortuately the hotel restaurant was closed. But hey what can you expect fot this time of the year - we were the only guests staying but still the bar was open whenever we asked!! What more can you want after a great winter walk than a reviving drink!!
Our room had a beautiful see view and was really spacious and clean. Overall we had a wonderful weekend stay and this hotel really felt like a home from home. I would recommend this place to anyone at any time of the year!

We booked a 3 night stay over the telephone after reviewing the hotels website. Upon arrival we discovered that the hotel was very dingy. There was a room off the reception full of cleaning equipment and washing and the lounge was strewn with childrens toys and a mess. The room was cold, damp, smelt of mould and the toilet smelt of something far worse. Additionally the restaurant and tea room were shut - none of which had been advised previously.
Upon declining to stay we were told in no uncertain terms that the hotel was going to take a cancellation fee equal to one nights stay from our credit card whether we liked it or not!
There are far nicer places to stay in Lynton and Lynmouth that charge less than this place - so beware!!

We have just returned from a short break at the North Cliff Hotel, having originally booked for just two nights, we soon decided to stay for three. Although it is not as secluded as I thought it would be from the website, it does have fantastic views of Lynmouth. It is two minutes from the little town of Lynton, and a good five minutes downhill walk to Lynmouth, (although this is steep and quite an effort to walk back up.) The Cliff railway is right on your door step.
We travelled with our two children, and the family room was excellent, spacious with the kids in a doorless adjoining room. Very comfortable and clean, and substantial breakfasts served in the dining room which has fantastic views.
This is not an area to visit if you like to be somewhere loud and busy and the hotel bar never had anyone in, but the owners were very happy to serve drinks when required.
All in all a lovely hotel that I would recommend to anyone who is not after wild nightlife, and Lynmouth is a lovely town and a great base to travel to Ilfracombe, and partiuclarly Woolacombe with it's great family beach.
