The Avalon was recommended to us by someoene in 2006. We were not disappointed.
As a base for seeing the sights in Plymouth it is perfectly situated, being close to the Barbican, the town centre and the river Tamar.
It was clean, efficient ,friendly and competitively priced. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff there.

I regularly stay at The Avalon Guest House, at least four or five times a year. As I'm on a tight budget I find it excellant value. The rooms are of a very good standard, nicely decorated, equiped with every thing you would expect and very clean. The location is very convenient for all of Plymouth's amenities and quiet compared to some other Hotels in the area
Extremely friendly. caring and helpful staff who always make you feel welcome.
Great breakfast with plenty of choices and served in a very pleasant dinning room.
Certainly classed as one of the better Guest Houses that I have stayed in and have recommended it to friends and family. Will continue to stay here when I visit Plymouth.

Thanks for a fantastic and friendly short break. The cooking and situation was the highlight of our stay. This could not have been any better if we'd stayed at the Ritz.

We recently stayed for a long weekend at the Avalon. We normally stay at larger hotels but were on a budget on this occassion. What can I say except that we were more than pleasantly surprised. Our room was nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The owners were extremely helpful and the location was superb, in fact, we didn't use our car at all. And we certainly enjoyed our full English breakfast at no extra cost.
Highly recommended !!
