“Comfortable and Friendly”

Sunray Hotel

28 May 2007

I came to plymouth for the weekend with my partner and our 2 children. Its a very cosy place with lots of character. The staff were very pleasant and made our stay very comfortable.

Very good place to stay. Its literally 2mins from the city centre, where all the shops are. Then in the evening when you want to eat, you are NOT short of nearby resturants, there so close!
The great thing about this location is that you are also only2 mins away from the waterfront, just a walk up the road and you are on Plymouth hoe, with the famous smeatons tower and the barbican wiht the mayflower steps and the big aquaruim.
Very good days out for a family!
Even thought the hotel is very close to the city, it is a surprisngly quiet street! and we had no trouble sleeping!!
We were very happy for our weekend stay, and i will also say, what a lovely full english breakfast!!!!!
Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone, singles, couples or families.

Location good, easy walk from Hoe, Barbican and Town. A little uneasy due to the youth centre next door and finding groups of youths hanging about. We had no problem. Car parking, there is room for 4 cars failing that parking on nearby roads free from 18.00 – 1000 then £1 an hour maximum 4 hours. Premises looks clean and well presented. This to me is NOT a Hotel. No bar as it states on the web site. No mini bar, telephone, evening meal, porter etc, it is in fact just a B&B.
We were in room 9 a triple. Room, good size, shower room small. Reasonably clean but we did find a pair of underpants behind the small chair in the room. We stayed 5 nights and the room was not vacuumed once. The work top was not wiped down. On two days the bed was not made properly and on one day the full waste bin was not emptied. Really need to try harder on room cleanliness.
Fire equipment good and escape well signed.
Breakfast was good and staff OK. Overall could do better. Would I go again NO, would I recommend to a friend NO.

This gentleman and his family as stated stayed at our hotel as stated however some of his facts are totally inaccurate
1)Parking in this area is difficult as is with all hotels here however we have 6 parking spaces not 4 as reported but as such we have 6 more than most of the hotels here
2)Mini bars, licencing etc do not make a hotel a hotel. The term hotel is simply a term applied to an establishment where rooms are rented on a short term basis
3) We are not resposible for information displayed on out of date websites. The website he mentions is not our own.
4) This man was asked repeatedly if all was ok and they said they enjoyed themselves and never once complained. They enjoyed it so much they stayed asked to stay for 5 days instead of the 4 booked. Of course we accomodated this request on short notice despite it being height of the season and had to move around bookings to do this. He refused to have the room cleaned on his last day and stated 'Its ok just leave our room for today !'
'5)All our rooms are cleaned daily but comply with the wishes of guests if they do not wish to have their room cleaned

Stayed here for one night on my way through to Cornwall. It was clean and comfortable with friendly staff and a fantastic breakfast. The facilities were basic but perfectly adequate, and I had everything I expected for my money. The hotel is in an ideal location. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

“A visit to Nannas”

Sunray Hotel

This hotel is a bit like staying a night or two at your Nanna's house. Comfortable, floral and friendly, but the sheets didnt fit the bed and came off during the night, and the shower was a mysteriously English contraption boasting neither form nor function.

Think that it was probably pretty poor value for money.

We booked here on the basis of good web reviews, but wonder if these were a bit dodgy?

On the positive side have to say that the hosts were very friendly, and easy going people.

The owners and management of the Sunray Hotel find this review offensive and libelous by suggesting that reviews made about this hotel on this site and others are not genuine. To suggest this is not only accusing review sites like Trip Advisor are none genuine but also demean the good action of all genuine reviewers.
This reviewer was obviously unhappy with aspects of their stay however did not express this when asked repeatedly if all was well with their stay. They did not mention anything untoward about the shower or the sheets during their stay. Considering we were meant to be ameniable and friendly I would have thought this would have been a better course of action than to complain about it afterwards.
