Spent a very happy week at this hotel. The rooms were clean, the breakfast great and the owners friendly. Certainly don't agree with Kundalini's review. "Fleas" ? I certainly saw no such thing. If there were fleas, why did he/she stay a second night ? Very strange. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on that one.

Really nice view over the park and loads of buses nearby that can take you most places. Even a free ferry down the road that takes you over the river.

I have just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel - hotel???. Okay. I was given a single room up in the attic, which was okay. It was small & clean, and exactly what i needed. It wasn't until i had to use the room (after being out all day), that i wasn't so sure. I had been out all day, enjoying Plymouth and what with all the fresh air, rather needed a good night's sleep. My God!! The mattress felt like a crate of drink cans - i could feel every spring! I had a look at the mattress, and it was new. The proprietors must bought the cheapest, most bottom-of-the-range mattress ever. Even the base of the bed was dipping down. I mentioned this to the proprietor (i only saw one of them), and he was not really very concerned. In fact, he would've charged the full amount (£30 per night) if i had not asked for a discount. And then it was only £5. To be fair, the breakfast was really nice, but i was really confused by the comment book which had things like "just like home" written inside. Good breakfast, good parking, friendly proprietor. That's all. Not to be confused with the Mountbatten Diving Centre/ Hotel which i'm sure is much much better.

We intended only to stay one night in this hotel but ended up staying for more than a week! Dave and Sally (the new proprietors) made us one of their own - from the initial friendly welcome - to their home made food - they are great!

The Mountbatten is a licenced 10? roomed hotel, so it's big enough to matter and small enough to care. Maybe we were fortunate, but they seem to be able to attract a great clientel - a party atmosphere every night.

Dave - thanks for the laughs and Sally - thanks for the WONDERFUL food!

Ask for the lasagne - it's mmmmmmmmmm
