This is a great place to while away a few hours. We visit every time we are staying in Torquay. There is a good mix of indoor and outdoor areas, so it is a perfect choice to visit on a showery day. The underwater viewing windows are great and allow you to see the penguins diving for food. There is also an underwater bubble window into the seal pool which allows you to interact with te seals, especially the one that likes to chase bright objects. The staff are knowldgeable and friendly, and are always happy to answer questions. There are regular activities throughout the day. The otters had started to settle in when we visited and were becoming more confident, so we were able to get some good sightings of them. Compared to a normal zoo or aquarium there are not so many creatures, so younger children or those who like to move quickly from one animal to the next may be disappointed. However older children & adults who want to take the time to find out about the wildlife that inhabits this stretch of the coast (and penguins) will find they can easily spend several hours here. The admission is a little pricey for a single visit, but as the admission price now covers unlimited returns within 7 days, if you are staying locally it is worth getting a ticket early in your stay so that you can use it a a bad weather activity, or as a way of filling a spare hour or two.
