The web site describes this hotel as 5* service with 3* rating. It was the worst hotel that my husband and I have stayed in when visiting friends and relatives in Torquay. The restaurant is a joke. It was advertising a rosette for food on the web site and on the board at the front of the hotel, what a joke. When we walked into the restaurant the waitress said sit anywhere, it had only been open for 1/2 an hour and she said the soup is off. The main course was showing fish and chips or chicken stroganoff and just before we went in we were at the bar and the waitress came in asking a member of staff ( who was a new starter and had only been working there for 2 hours ) if he knew what wine they had. The room was in dire need of renovation and needless to say we won't be staying there again. The only good thing was a booklet in the room showing you places to eat in Torquay, thank the Lord, I phoned the Spice Club ( Indian Restaurant) and had a fantastic meal.

When we arrived we were directed to a double suite room through a maze of stairways and corridors. These were generally poorly lit and smelt musty.
Eventually when we had carried our bags to the room we found a two room suite with a small balcony. It was desperately in need of brightening up. All the soft furnishings were old fashioned, worn and musty. Worst of all the bedspread was covered in stains and looked disgusting. In my view this is just not acceptible and we had to cancel our booking and incur a nights charge without staying.
Also, the hotel advertises a tennis court but all they have is a half-court which would be no good for tennis.
We did not get to sample the food or hospitality except the lady on reception was unapologetic for the quality of the room or the misrepresentation.
Cannot recommend.
