I booked the bank holday weekend for my daughters 2nd birthday as it is about 30 mins from peppa pig world.
The hotel was disgraceful, unhygienic and unsafe. I have stayed in some dodgy hotels in my time but never have I experienced something so disgusting.
On arrival to our room we were greeted with a bunk bed that was not secure and moved when my daughter sat on it. The double bed was two single divans pushed together, the bed base and the mattresses were brown and ripped with stains on them, absolutely disgusting. The bathroom shelf was not sealed, the water for the bath for my two young children was brown, there were holes in the walls, ripped carpet, the floor was not clean and the worst part was that the PAT testing on all of the electrical equipment was out of date, some by as much as 5 years! This is a serious and illegal health and safety issue from my research and is putting the customers in danger.
We were placed on the top floor (my children are 4 and 2 so we have a pushchair) there was one lift to our floor and it had a step to get in and out which was not highlighted so my two year old daughter fell straight into the lift injuring her knee. The shower in the changing rooms was filthy and the staff spoke little English and were very rude so suffice to say I didn't want to complain. I saw a staff member mopping with a filthy mop and no wet floor signs and when I spoke to him about this he didn't understand what I was saying.
On our second night in the hotel there was a boxing match in one of the suites which resulted in a large fight outside the hotel during the night between spectators, with two small children this is very unsettling and not what you expect on a family break. To top it off the fire alarm went off at 3.30am and we were forced to evacuate our children who were now very distressed from the top floor of a hotel and outside. There was one member of staff during the fire evacuation who came out, told us we had to evacuate and then went back into the building. There was no head count taken during this time. We were left in the cold for forty minutes with no staff present until we were told to go back in, again just the one member of staff.
If you are going to stay in Bournemouth I highly advise you to book somewhere else. This hotel is unsafe and brine so many health and safety laws it needs shutting down! I have since made a formal comaint to the holiday company who sold us the break and I seriously hope this place gets a visit from the HSE
