Fantastic stay at the Avalon. Big comfy beds, neutral decor, great food and service. Lovely wine list, and the home cooking was superb. Can't fault it! It's about an hour's walk into Bournemouth along the seafront - which was the perfect way to wake up every morning! Taxis are about £9 into town.

I stay in numerous hotels for business and pleasure and this small hotel rates as one of the best . I requested a single room and was given a double at a good rate. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing - the food including the evening meals was a credit to Patricia - my expectations were not high for a sea-side hotel but this hotel is different - the furnishings are also way above normal standards - well done Chris and Patricia!

We stayed here on the recent bank holiday weekend and echo all of the other positive reviews. The place is a real gem; great location and the owners are massively friendly to boot.

This Hotel in South Bourne Beach is ideal for a stay in Bournemouth.
It is (as the website rightly indicates) minutes from the beach / cliffs but far enough back from the busy main road to be quiet at night.
The hosts are extremely friendly and welcoming, very chatty people and suited to running such an establishment. They're entrepreneurs too, having bought neighbouring properties and expanding into a waffle van so they've obviously a passion for this business. A rare enough thing these days.
Also quite handy to the property is a Threshers wine shop at the other end of Grand Avenue. Ideal really!
All produce is purportedly organic, not that I'm too bothered about such things, it is however fresh which is far more important.
Stay here and you won't be disappointed.
Rating is Above Average as the directions to the property could do with some improvement - suggest you print your own from multimap or something similar.
