We stayed here over the May Bank Holiday. The accommodation is excellent. We stayed in the attic room, which is fabulous, and our friends stayed in the ground floor room which is smaller but equally as nice. The added bonus with the attic room is the wonderful balcony which overlooks John and Mary's beautiful garden. It is perfect for sitting out on with a glass of wine on a warm evening.
John and Mary make excellent hosts, supplying extra chairs for the balcony so that our friends could join us for a glass of wine and they provided wine glasses for us too! Any request was accommodated.
The breakfast is superb and really sets you up for the day, ready to explore the sites around the area. Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove are definitely worth a visit and right on the doorstep of the B&B.
The Red Lion Pub is within 10 minutes walk of the B&B and has an extensive menu to choose from. We ate there on 3 occasions (2 dinners and 1 cream tea) and everything was very good. Well worth a visit but take a torch for the walk home if you go for dinner as the road back to the B&B is unlit.
We will definitely be going back and would have no hesitation in recommending this B&B to friends and family.
Thank you to John and Mary for a wonderful stay!

We have visited Winfrith Newburgh many times and always receive a warm and friendly welcome from John and Mary at 29 School Lane. Their modern home provides excellent bed and breakfast facilities. On different occasions we have enjoyed staying in either the large upstairs guest room with its spacious en-suite bathroom and balcony providing views across the village and Dorset countryside or the downstairs guest room with its large en-suite bathroom. Both rooms are doubles and have the space for extra beds if needed. They also include TV & DVD's, plus tea and coffee making facilities. John & Mary provide a relaxed and informal atmosphere and we were put at ease from the moment we arrived. John is Dorset born and bred and gave us useful information about attractions in the area for visitors. For our first day we chose walking along the Dorset Coatal Path and a visit to the beach in the evening. John gave us a list of local places where we we could get a lunch and an evening meal at reasonable prices. We awoke to the sound of bird song in the attractive garden and had morning coffee on the balcony before being treated to a delicious full English (Dorset) breakfast which set us up for that day's visit to Monkey World - only a short drive away. John told us that he has had many guests from all over the world and if he is given enough notice he will try to accommadate any special dietry needs. He can also provide bikes for touring the area at a small charge. We left feeling we had stayed at a B&B that set itself high standards of comfort, cleanliness and service, provided an excellent breakfast that suited our tastes and gave us an ideal base for touring south Dorset & Purbeck, Lulworth and the Jurassic coast. We found them through an internet search called winfrith-bedandbreakfast.moonfruit---

We have stayed in many bed & breakfast places and this is one of the very best. The rooms are beautiful with lovely bathrooms crisp linen and soft towels.

The garden is lovely and John & Mary made us very welcome inviting us to use it.

John cooks a fantastic scrambled egg breakfast and we wished we were staying longer so we could have tried his full english.

We will definitely return to 29 School Lane in Winfrith Newburgh which is on the doorstep of Lulworth Cove. We took our bikes and cycled to the pub for our evening meals there are three all within easy reach.

Many thanks to you both for a very enjoyable stay.

A Lulworth retreat away from the tourists!

Winfrith B&B

We happened on the Winfrith B&B by chance while looking for accommodation near Lulworth Cove. There are 2 bedrooms, one at £60 and one at £55 - very reasonable for a busy Saturday night in June. We stayed in the £60 room which is huge with a bathroom big enough to be another bedroom!! It has a balcony with table and chairs, tea making facitiies and TV with DVD player. You couldn't really ask for more. The smaller £55 room also looked very comfortable. John and Mary, the owners, were extremely friendly and helpful. They made us feel at home without trying too hard and we felt very comfortable in their home. Cooked breakfast provided with all the usual trimmings.

The best thing about Winfrith is it's so near to the coast (we drove to Lulworth in 5 mins), but far enough away that you get away from the noise and bustle of the tourist trap. It really makes for a breath of fresh air after a busy week in the city!

The only reason I haven't given the Winfrith B&B a 5 score is that there is not a lot of choice for eating out in the evening if you don't want to drive. We walked to nearby pub - about 15 mins walk away - which was very nice but you'd be limited if you were staying for several nights and wanted some variation.

But otherwise this place is perfect.
