Stayed at the Royal York for the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
The hotel location is great - very central for shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. The room itself was bright and comfortable even if the decor was a little strange - a mix of old fashioned and modern styling that didnt quite work together. The bed was big and fairly comfy but
the bedding was so crisp it almost 'crackled' when you moved around - the sensation was almost like sleeping in a paper bag.
The bathroom was absolutely tiny ! One of the smallest I have come across in any hotel room - it was a far cry from the bathroom shown on the hotel website.
The mini-bar was empty apart from a single bottle of water. We were left wondering if it was in fact a fridge not a mini bar and a previous guest had left the water there.... don't know.
We had a room at the front of the hotel - there was a lot of noise from traffic as the windows had no double glazing.
The sound proofing between the rooms isnt great either. You could hear the guests in the room above walking across the floor, closing doors, having a shower etc. We ordered room service once and our drinks arrived 30 mins before our food - again found this unusual. The food however was very good.
In summary - its not a bad little hotel but for the money ( we booked via hotel website) I'm sure you could get better in Brighton.

I stayed here for one night over the easter holiday, we booked this as a lot of other places had a minimum 2-3 night stay! I booked over the phone and requested a sea view on a high floor.

The hotel is very central, about 4minutes walk to the sea/right by the pier and a few minutes walk from the shopping centre and the Lanes, couldn't have been better! The reception staff were all very friendly and helpful, once we had checked in my first thoughts on entering our room were 'its nice and clean, bit small though'! It was a nice room, had a nice feel to it and we had a good view of the pier which was lovely when lit up at night, the bathroom was spotlessly clean and the bed with exception of the pillows was nice and comfortable.

It was a shame the room was quite small, as i have read reviews from people on here saying they had a queen room and it was quite large :(

We ate in the restaurant in the evening especially after the taxi driver had told us that he had seen people queueing to get in! and wasn't disappointed, we both had a very nice meal.
We also had a cocktail in the cocktail bar as well, there are some
unusual cocktails on the menu and personally would have preffered a more 'bog standard' choice, but thats just my opinion!
Breakfast was slightly disappointing especially for the price £16.85, it was all sort of piled on top of each other....it really was a case of 'hunt the sausage'!!

The only faults i can find with this would be it would have been nice to have a kettle in the room to make tea/coffee, and more products in the bathroom as there was just a tiny bottle of shampoo/gel but this is a new hotel and i'm sure it will only get better! Definetely recommend it for a stay in Brighton.

This is a beautifully decorated hotel in a really good location - right by the seafront and a moments walk from the shops.
We ate in the hotel on our first night and the food was excellent - really enjoyed it.
With the hotel being new everything is clean and the room was a decent size with a lovely bathroom.
The only thing we had a problem with was the bed as it was too hard for us, but this was really no fault of the hotel as you cant please everyone when picking matresses! I also felt that the staff could have been a bit friendlier seen as its not a cheap hotel and it would have really improved the experience.
Overall all a really good experience and i would recommend it.

Last week I decided to book my wife and I a romantic weekend away in Brighton and decided to stay at this hotel after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. The hotel not only met my expectations but indeed exceeded them. My wife and I had a superb queen room overlooking the sea and although it was raining all weekend the view was fantastic. I can only imagine what it would be like on a clear and sunny day. The room itself was large and the I had one of my best nights sleep for ages in the extremely comfortable bed. We eat out on our first night but tried the hotel restaurant on the second night. The food certainly matched the quality of the rest of the hotel and we really wished we had eaten in the restaurant on our first night as well.

The only downside of this hotel is the lack of car parking. There is no parking on site and we had to put our car in the local NCP which did work out quite expensive for our two night stay. Overall however, I feel, having previously stayed in a number of hotels in Brighton that this hotel is up there with the best if not the best in Brighton. This is a hotel that I would however thoroughly recommend and my wife and I can not wait to return.
