Stayed 4 nights at the MyHotel with my daughter. The hotel is truly a fun design experience - everything down to the teaspoons is interesting. However, after a few days the emphasis on aesthetics over functionality/ergonomics gets a bit tiring. The rooms are tiny, and I mean really tiny! We had the cheaper room and did see into one of the more expensive rooms that are just a bit larger. There is no closet - you hang your clothes on one of 5 hangers (beautiful clear plastic) in front of the full length mirror. So, you have to take all your clothes down to actually use the mirror. There is no bureau and the desk is really just a shelf on the wall. The washroom has no door. I'm glad I was travelling with a close family member! The washroom has 3 parts - all beautiful. The sink area with a window into the bedroom and funky orange accents. The toilet cubicle with brushed glass door and no lock. The shower with glass door and really nice shower head.
Wi-fi did not work at first but worked after a few tries and visits to the front desk. The phone worked, but only once.
There was construction work going on the whole time we were there. I'm not sure if it was in the hotel itself or in the neighborhood.

“Depressing, what a mess!”

My boyfriend had booked a room for a romantic weekend away, the decor was hideous and the staff miserable. The bathroom had a see-through door which did not set the romantic mood. We woke up at 6am with terrible street noise and found the whole weekend hard to relax. Waste of money and time!

Stayed here on the 10th may and booked it as a surprise for my partner. I found the hotel through lastminute.com and as soon as i read the description and saw some pics i had found my hotel.

We turned up at 12 pm, a full two hours before we were supposed to check in. As soon as we arrived, we recieved valet parking. My partner was sold as soon as she walked into the lobby, very different to other hotels we had been to before.

The guy at the desk said he had a room available and we could check in even though we were early. We got a free upgrade too! The room itself has a big double bed right in the middle of the room and a bay window. We also had a flat screen tv, build in sound system which we could plug our mp3 player into. Also had a dvd player and you can borrow dvds and cds from the hotel. The room is open plan, even the bathroom so not for people who get embarrased easily!

We checked out the bar, nice older crowd mostly with cocktails using some intresting ingredients! The stay also included breakfast which was simple but good.

Overall an excellent stay and a great place to come for a young couple. Location wise, also perfect, 5 minutes from the pier, next to the pavilion, and some great bars/pubs/shops all in walking distance. Some nice few extras for your money include bathrobes, minibar, dvd player, newspaper and magazines in your room, kettle, aveda products etc etc.

The only negative i can draw on is the parking, which was £20 a day, but at least it was secure, and would probably a similar amount through a meter ont he road.

“Ikea meets footballers wives”

Not a bad hotel, but then again it is new. Felt like an Ikea store. The rooms had a cold feel to them, stark white! The mood lighting didn't really do alot and if you are in a standard room, your view is a white brick wall. Sometimes you can try too hard to be modern and funky, but themes like this tend date very quickly. It was felt that although it was "Ikea meets footballerswives", the staff were helpful and you can still smell the paint drying. The bar is good, but packed during the weekends.

I attended an Institute of Hospitality networking event at the hotel in April 2008.
Arriving at the hotel was a pleasant suprise after a hard days work, easy to find, great location for taking a stroll in the North Lanes, light and airy, informal but profesional.
I was greeted by a warm and friendly smile by the reception staff and rather than pointed to the location of the event a member of staff offered to show me up to the reception room.
The room was well equipped, with staff to ensure that every need was met.
Later we used the ground floor bar area where we had a fabulous private buffet served. Great food, excellent service and informal yet professional.
All the staff seemed so proud of Brightons newest hotel and provided excellent service to back up the great product.
Long may they continue to be successful.
