My partner & I had been at Goodwood all day and decided to pop into Brighton for a meal. We ended up at the Bella Italia Restaurant. It's in a good spot and when you walk in has a good look about the place and was very busy. We had to wait 5 mins to be seated. Unfortunately, it all went down hill from there. The service wasn't too bad, we had already looked at the menu and made our choices, so we sat down and ordered drinks and food. I had a small glass of red Merlot for £4.25. I should have sent it back as it was dreadful, Sarsons came to mind. The main courses turned up fairly quickly but were very disappointing. I had a dish that had plum sauce with it and it was so overpowering and sweet it drowned out out everything else. As regards my partners meal she said all the vegetables were frozen and not fresh at all.
This was just not good enough for a restaurant selling itself as producing authentic Italian food. We won't be going back. The high light of our visit was observing no less than five hen parties and one stag wander past outside the window!
