“Smelly and dirty”

Quality Hotel Brighton

I booked this hotel on the recommendation of a colleague who had received a discount rate on a sea-view top-floor room. He said it was cheap and clean. Our double was not cheap, did not have a sea view, and was not on the top floor. It was on an apparently deserted floor that smelt (the smell hits you like a wall when the lift doors open) like the inside of one of the old routemaster buses. A number 38, in fact. On the buses the smell was from damp, rotten carpet. I assume that the hotel had the same problem. The room itself was small and shabby. I pulled back the blanket and there were human hairs in the bed. The sheets were stained. I opened a drawer to discover a tea set, with hairs in the cups. The hotel was noisy throughout the night and I slept terribly. Thankfully, the shower worked well so I was able to wash off some of the grime. We had paid for two breakfasts, but dreading to think what the hygiene standards in the kitchen might have been like, just got out of there as quickly as we could.

“Great on a budget”

Quality Hotel Brighton

I booked this hotel for my business partner for a business meeting.

Re my business partners hotel room, it was clean and as quiet as possible in the centre of Brighton. The problem she had was with very noisy neighbours at 2am/4am in the morning... not the hotel's fault, but its obviously more of a great 'hen/stag night' location than a business hotel.

Apparently the buffet breakfast was OK.

Re the business side of things... everything ran smoothly.

The conference co-ordinator was excellent, and the hotel staff were friendly and accomodating. at least 4 out of 5 stars for the conference side of things - would recommend it.

One tip though - in case its hot, ask for air con units in the training room otherwise they get very stuffy.

“Great location, great staff.”

Having read some negative reviews about this hotel, I was a little concerned as my daughter and 19 friends had booked for a Hen Weekend. However, we found the staff very helpful, the rooms were adequate for the price we paid and the breakfast was very good. This hotel is ideally situated for the beach, bars and night clubs. If you want 5* facilities, you will have to pay a lot more than the Quality Hotel charge. Kathie, Beckenham

I'd stayed in a "Quality Hotel" before and vowed never again. Unfortunately, a colleague had booked this for me so i decided to give it a go...

Check in was quick and easy, the credit card machines weren't working but the friendly night manager allowed me to check in anyway and said we'd sort it out in the morning.

Room was dirty, small and had stained carpets and walls. I did have a kettle cable, but no kettle. Couldn't be bothered to ask for one and then wait for it to arrive, as the uht milk was out of date anyway!

Good night's sleep in a comfy bed.

The (entirely self service) Breakfast wasn't too bad, they kept running out of things despite not being very busy but the food was hot and reasonable quality when it did arrive. Staff were notable for their absence.

This hotel is in a great location and would make a good base for someone who isn't very fussy. Personally, me and "Quality Hotels" are finished!

“Good Location Outways Lack Of Quality”

Quality Hotel Brighton

I booked into this hotel for a 3 night stay and like many people before found the hotel was looking rather tatty , however I found the staff to be excellent and my room reasonable for the price I paid.

My gripes with this Hotel would have to be, poor room heating if visiting in winter and rather average breakfasts , the public areas of the hotel looked rather stuck in the 1980s and some new lifts would not go amiss, basically the hotel needs a revamp to bring it into the 21st century as do many hotels on the south coast.

On the up side however, the hotel is sited at the lower end of west street just back from the sea front, in a good central location for most of the attractions of the town.

I found my visit a very neutral experience over all so would stay again if room price was right.
