“The perfect romantic night away....”

Cavalaire Hotel

My partner and I had a wonderful night in Brighton staying at the Cavalaire. On arrival we had a warm welcome, and were made to feel very special - we were up-graded to the deluxe four poster room. As it was a birthday celebration this was especially appreciated! Garry and Derek were so helpful, and made some great recommendations for a romantic dinner nearby. They achieved a perfect balance of care and attention, without being intrusive in any way.

The room was totally decadent - sumptuous bed and furnishings, gorgeous bathroom with soft fluffy towels, heated towel rail and enormous shower which begs to have 2 people in there together!!!

It was spotlessly clean, cosy and warm.

Breakfast was delicious - full English for him, veggie for me, endless tea and coffee.

A very relaxed environment - highly recommended.

My husband and I recently stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel (more of a B&B in terms of facilities) is great. We booked on the strength of reviews on this website and were not disappointed with the hospitality or the room.

The attention to detail is good, the breakfasts are cooked fresh to order and Derek and Gary are excellent hosts offering advice on eating out and going out in Brighton in general. Where else have you stayed where the hosts come out to your car to say goodbye to you when you check out.

The room was comfortable and the bed was huge. The ensuite was fairly small but was adequate. The room was cleaned promptly (sometimes whilst having breakfast) which meant you could return to your room at any time during the day knowing you would not be disturbed again.

We stayed at the Brighton Hilton last year and vowed never to go back, it is one of the worst hotels we have stayed in but The Cavalaire is a great find. The standard of hotels in Brighton can vary considerably so choose carefully. Many are overpriced and make no effort for their guests; this can not be said of The Cavalaire.

The only downside is the location, not the most exclusive part of Brighton and we always got a taxi back from town at night uncertain of what we might come across, the street the hotel is in is absolutely fine but you know it is not far from areas that are not. The other thing is the street is pretty busy with traffic and if you sleep at the front of the building don’t expect a lie in.

We would recommend this hotel.

“Clean and comfortable!”

Cavalaire Hotel

The room is good value for your money. Very clean comfortable bed, and the armchair in the room was one of the most comfortable chairs I've sat in. Roomy, clean, bright, bathroom, Cable TV. Limited closet space. Close to subway stations, supermarket and shops, and fast food outlets. The hotel features a functional restaurant, and 'business centre' for internet access, taxis outside, and couteous staff. Laya (the scottish receptionist) was very helpful.

Another seaside hotel or is it a bed and breakfast? What is the difference?

The Cavalaire is in between the two as it's more of a B&B but calls itself a hotel. It is modern but with charm and beautifully furnished
and looked after. The bedrooms have more cushions and pillows on each
bed than I have in the whole of my house! No complaints on equipment or facilities available as the rooms have all the normal requirements
and more. The shower was a bit small but it was clean, modern and had
lovely soft towels.

Breakfast is substantial and is cooked to order in the well appointed
breakfast room. All supervised by the two friendly hosts.

The only down side in the whole stay is when you come to pay the bill. I just don't understand why it is that rooms are so expensive. £75 for a double room, including breakfast, works out at around £400 for five nights. I could have had a week in the Algarve, full board for that. That's no criticism on the owners just a reflection on the British idea for B&B/hotel pricing.
