In what seemed to be the busiest weekend in Brighton so far, options were very limited.
The Thistle being HUGE, still had rooms available.
The hotel is in the very centre and right next to the Pier, facing the sea.
From the moment you walk in, you get a feeling that the hotel really need an urgent restyling.
I have read other comments about those red corridors and believe me, it's like being in the middle of a David Lynch movie! Very old fashion, stuffy, smelly.
We were told to check in after 2pm, we turned up at 2.30 but we were still asked to wait for an extra 20 minutes.
The other thing that disappointed me was that even though a double room can easily range around £260, you're still expected to pay for just about everything: pay-per-view on your telly, call charges to Europe average around £6 per minute (!), wireless internet has to be paid for, and if you feel peckish a hamburger will set you back at about £10!!!
The room smelt funny, pictures on the walls were all squaint and a lampshade was dirty with liquid that had dried up on it and left a bad stain.
The TV had only about 10 channels plus the already mentioned pay-per-view that charged an astonishing £7.95 per movie!
Staff was polite and breakfast was very satisfying.
