I can not begin to describe how upset i am about my experience here!
First of all i was in brighton for a family wedding.
I needed a place to stay as most of my relatives had a full house due to all the out of towners arriving.
I was simply looking for a basic room in a hotel for 50/60 a night, yet due to a conference all i could find was this place.. with rooms at 95 a NIGHT for one person for a single room with a single bed!!!
magicaly the male manager at reception, or was he manager? reduced it to 80!
So, although not happy about paying such a high rate especially with the room being a total drag away from reception, yes theres a lift but there is corridor after corridor, door after door, turning after turning (i counted 6 when leaving the steps), then 3 steps to drag suitcase up, then yet another door, and then finally my room (222)!
The room was literally a box room, and the bed was a SINGLE bed too!!!
However, now the real problems started, because from 10pm till about 3am, i barely slept! all i could hear was noise (and i dont mean the odd drunk), but loud noise/shouting/cheering from groups stags drunks parties etc nearby my window! it was so damn loud, and when i spoke to the night porter? he told me he could hear the noise too.
i asked him to log each time i complained which was around 11pm, midnight and again at 1pm.
finaly i was given ear plugs which was a slight improvement but not great as the damage had been done, i found it very hard to sleep, i staggered down the stairs at 8am and spoke to the manager who was totally unsympathetic.
She kept assuring me that `they announce on their website` that they are a `seaside pier hotel`... so apparently even though i am not from brighton, i am supposed to know in advance that on a MONDAY NIGHT, there will be unbearable screaming and noise from outside?
really? ON A MONDAY NIGHT??! we arent talking about weekends here we are talking about a MONDAY NIGHT!!!!!!!!
Oh, and whats even more pathetic is the fact i did NOT BOOK off the website, i booked it at the hotel desk, i had not touched the website, and NOBODY told me upon check-in that `hey if you arent part of a stag group or your not here for a drunk all nighter you may have a problem trying to get some sleep`!
Is the noise their fault? NO! but they have a duty to warn people who may not have seen the website, and may not be familir with brighton like myself from manchester, that `it does get rowdy at nights even during the week`...
If they had told me this i would not have stayed,
i feel so ripped off and upset that i spent all that money on a room, and i feel like ive stayed at a 10 pound a night hostel!!!!
Whats even worse is that at the wedding reception earlier, my head was spinning and i felt tired and sleepy, because of my terrible night sleep where i probably caught around abut 4 hours if that, of sleep!
At the end of the day, i have stayed at city centre hotels in london etc before, and i have never found myself woken up multiple times throughout the night from nearby screaming, and obviously from the many reviews that i am reading on trip advisor, the management KNOW about the noise and how it has ruined the stay of MANY customers who are not prepared for it, but make no effort to warn people of it who pay at reception....
and because of that, it IS their fault that i did not sleep, granted they did not make the noise, but they are supplying a room where they know there is a good chance if i am just there for a relaxing night, that i will not be getting it!!!
Yet to be spoken to like its my problem, is an absolute disgrace, and if i do not get a full refund i will be speaking to trading standards as i feel scammed.
Horrible horrible experience, and the fact that the people at the desk are friendly and helpful about things in general does NOT excuse the fact that i came for a nights sleep, paid the equivalent of about 140 dollars for a small room with a single bed and did NOT GET A NIGHTS SLEEP!!
Thank you umi thank you for RUINING my nights sleep, stealing my money, and making the entire wedding experience extremely unenjoyable!
