Topps Hotel is very expensive for what you get - and the new management seem to have no idea what they are doing. when i arrived the duvet cover was inside out - not a problem but a bit odd. the room although extremely big was so tired it was decrepid. the television was ancient and needed 3 minutes to warm up - the remove controls was held together with a blue plaster. the towels were totally threadbare and the bedlinen so old and like sandpaper............. and then the brown threadbare carpet with Topps Hotel threaded into it - how old and dirty was that?
The breakfast was mean and unappetising - my fried egg looked like it had been bought second hand from a happy eater - when i asked the waitress for another fresh egg she didn't understand and having waited 10mins for another one i just couldn't bear to stay in the miserable cellar anymore and escaped to my equally miserable room.
if they are trying to sell this hotel as a 3* i don't understand the rating system and the whole thing cost me £200 for 2 nights. the previous weekend i stayed at maison mascara for £150 for 2 nights and although it was noisy it was clean with white cotton sheets.

Four of my girlfriends had booked a weekend away to Brighton. I decided to join them for the Saturday night but the hotel they had booked was full. I searched the net and came across this little gem. I paid £49 for one night B&B. It was the only single room they had available at such short notice but it was perfect. No sea view but the Brighton roof tops had character.
A small room but very cute, very clean and just right. A fan was provided which was much needed in the July heat wave. A small bath tub was built under the roof slope and was very cosy indeed.
I did not make breakfast in the morning due to a heavy night but the bacon cooking smelt gorgeous.
A superb location in Regency square, over the road to the beach, a short stroll to the hundreds of shops, and night life 5 mins walk away.
A quiet, inexpensive, clean hotel in a perfect location. A great base for a weekend in Brighton.

The Topps Hotel is worth noting because of its location and its pricing. It's ideally placed for visiting Brighton, is close to the sea, has a multi-storey car park outside - yet doesn't cost the earth.
It may not have the newest decor (although it's clean and tidy) but it makes up for it with a friendly welcome. I keep going back whenever I visit the area.

We stayed at this hotel and were very impressed by the size of the rooms, and the size of the bed! Also the breakfast was good and the owners were very pleasant. We have stayed in a few different places in Brighton, including the Jarvis Marriott hotel, but this has outdone them all. We will definitely be staying here again.

I found the Topps Hotel to be a really good choice. We have stayed in the Quality Hotel & The Old Ship Hotel in Brighton, which were more expensive & not nearly as nice. The owners are friendly & helpful, the breakfast was lovely & the service good, the room was far bigger than we expected & next time we're in Brighton we will definately stay here.
