Topps Hotel is very expensive for what you get - and the new management seem to have no idea what they are doing. when i arrived the duvet cover was inside out - not a problem but a bit odd. the room although extremely big was so tired it was decrepid. the television was ancient and needed 3 minutes to warm up - the remove controls was held together with a blue plaster. the towels were totally threadbare and the bedlinen so old and like sandpaper............. and then the brown threadbare carpet with Topps Hotel threaded into it - how old and dirty was that?
The breakfast was mean and unappetising - my fried egg looked like it had been bought second hand from a happy eater - when i asked the waitress for another fresh egg she didn't understand and having waited 10mins for another one i just couldn't bear to stay in the miserable cellar anymore and escaped to my equally miserable room.
if they are trying to sell this hotel as a 3* i don't understand the rating system and the whole thing cost me £200 for 2 nights. the previous weekend i stayed at maison mascara for £150 for 2 nights and although it was noisy it was clean with white cotton sheets.
