“good location and price, not the best facilities and was conned at the bar!”

New Madeira Hotel

12 Mar 2008

Stayed for one night in February - room was ok, basic - had sea view. Location was good, parking was a problem - they did have a customer car park - but you had to pay a tennar. Desk staff were friendly and informative.
Only complaint that I was conned at the bar - pint and a half of lager for £7, i asked for the receipt - the bar worker made a excuse and promptly walked off.

“Great place and something for every budget!”

New Madeira Hotel

I have just recently booked a room in the New Madeira Hotel for a romantic getaway with my husband and a other couple. We got the room 121 with seafront view and our friends with not as much budget got 221. I have to say the room was absolutely fab and we had a flatscreen tv with DVD and a stereo and a lovely little balcony. The other couple got a standard room and still had a very nice room. I would say this hotel is awesome because there is something for everyone and every budget and especially becasue they offer veggie sausages for breakfast too. The staff is very friendly and helpfull especially if you are looking for a nice restaurant to have dinner or drinks. Overall I would say this is a very nice hotel.

Stayed as member of group for a weekend away. Friendly staff, handy location, rooms a little tired but fine. Maybe not the place for a romantic getaway but great for a fun weekend where you are out loads anyway.

Arrived friday teatime after a long drive for a two night stay with my wife. We had paid the extra for a sea view and were given room 121.
The room was nicely done out in a modern decor - as was the bathroom. (Bathroom quite small - no bath.) Not the Ritz or anything but they had clearly made an effort and we were more than happy.

After a meal in town we went to bed about 11pm. Then the noise started. As far as we could work out the queue for the nightclub assembled outside our window and shouted and bawled until the very small hours. The window was only single glazed.

Basically we got no sleep until sometime after 3pm - and were then woken by traffic noise at 7am.
The next morning I went straight to reception and insisted on a different room. They said that they had never had complaints about noise before and that in any case you should expect city hotels to be noisy. We moved out.

Conclusion: if you are going to Brighton for all night dancing etc, and won't be going to bed until 3am, and will by then be totally legless so will sleep through an earthquake - then this might be the hotel for you. But its no use for anyone else.

Hen Weekend
After booking a weekend away a year ago it had finally come round everyone really excitied, everyone went down to Brighton in the afternoon but two of us travelled down straight from work.
Traffic perfect for a friday evening only an hour we were both looking forward to the weekend.
We arrived about 7.00pm ...checked in.....i thought i heard wrong when the manager said ok ladies you will have free admission to our Nightclub as you are right next door :(
Next door ,we might as well of been on the dance floor, the room was £95.00 per night and it was awful.
The walls were dirty with patches of the paint peeling away, the bed were grotty looking with no headboards like the rest of the rooms - DIRTY, the carpet had so many fag burns, the curtains were so dirty i am surprised they didn't walk out them selves.....the bathroom was small, damp and the mould round the shower was just unbeliveable.
BUT to top it off the entrance to the club was right outside the window ....on the website it advised the club shuts at 2am but the manager had informed us it doesnt actually shut till 3am. Which i sperfect for those who want to party all night ...brilliant BUT not for those who have been at work all day .
After complaining we were told there was no avaiable rooms left and a weekend that had been planned for a year had been ruined but the NEW MEDERIA HOTEL.
That same evening we travel back to London very disappointed.
The rest of the hotel looked very pleasant .....i strongly reccommend you ask in advance that room 101 is not where you want to be staying.
