“Awful attic rooms!”

On arrrival found it tricky to park - with limited parking available outside the front of the hotel.

Had to park in the NCP -it only a minutes walk and costs £8 per night or £15 per day.
On the plus side - its very close to Brighton Peer.

The first room I was given was a smoking room-in the attic!
Not very clean, stale smelling- even for a smoking room!
Noisy from the bars below and a generator nearby was vibrating the room....Can it get any worse?

I asked for a differant room, and was given one- much better!
Breakfast was ok - nothing to rave about- but didnt cost a great deal either.

Four out of ten!

Based on the selection of Hotels on the Internet and reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we chose the Queens hotel because of the closeness to the seafront and the Brighton Centre where we'd booked for a concert. We'd also taken into consideration the fact of the price which was £69 for one night for a double room non-seaview. Upon arriving after a four-hour journey we had a little difficulty of unloading our luggage as there was no space outside and therefore had to park on a meter at £1.50 for 30 minutes and rush in. The reception staff couldn't have been more friendly and we were very pleasantly suprised with our room as it was spacious, modern, great decor, modern TV, Internet access, and a super bathroom.
Returning back to the Hotel later that night we were pleased to still be able to get a drink at the bar - which was very clean - and had good service.
Unfortunately our room, 216, backs onto a late-night club and so neither of us got much sleep at all as the street noise went ont to the very early hours of the morning - and the windows are NOT double-glazed ! I obviously appreciate that someone has to occupy these rooms but I think we should have been warned of this, and if we had I would have paid more for a better room.
Otherwise however the breakfast made up for it as there was as much as you wanted ( buffet-style ) and the waiting staff were very attentive and polite.
All in all I'm pleased we went to the Queens Hotel as we seemed to get a really nice Hotel for the same price as a back-street B & B.
One drawback you need to be aware of is the horrendous parking situation in Brighton, finding somewhere, and very expensive.

Our flight arrived into Gatwick at 12.45 AM and we weren't due to fly home until the evening of the following day. Having heard really positive things about Brighton, we were fortunate to make the 1.47 AM train to Brighton (30 min.)

Unfortunately the majority of the hotels in Brighton advertise on the hotel booking sites that check-in must be before 10 pm. This greatly limited our choices therefore I was pleased to find the Queens Hotel which did offer 24 hour check-in.

I thought it would be a lovely idea to have a sea-view room, to wake up looking at the sea after a long journey. The hotel reception had no problem giving us an "up-grade" to a sea-view room. Now I understand why. The room was extremely noisy!! It sounded as if the highway went through the room! What was worse was the techno music heard in the background that didn't stop until around 6 AM!! And to top it off the room was drafty and cold. The radiator didn't work but after some searching we found a dinky electric heater in the closet.

The beds and pillows were quite uncomfortable-- the bed was only 190 cm long, so my husband (194 cm) didn't fit!!

The carpets were filthy, with big stains all around. Additionally we found some papers behind the desk. The windows were in dire need of a good cleaning!! The fixtures in the bathroom were falling off the walls and the lamps in the room were crooked. The Wireless internet did not work in the room!! Fortunately it did work in the hotel lobby.

The breakfast was nothing to write home about. The hash browns were hard as a rock, we actually thought they were toast! The tomatoes that traditionally accompany English breakfast were from a can! There was no cheese in the buffet but the waitress was very sweet and brought me my own plate of cheese. This kind gesture made me forget what a bad night sleep I had and put me in a good mood!!

While the staff were in general quite pleasant, at no time were we asked if we enjoyed our stay. Obviously I will not return to this hotel. I do hope that the other rooms are better than ours (206).

“Don't stay here !”

Queens Hotel

2 Mar 2008

Stayed at this hotel for two nights paying full price for B&B
Plus Points; Good location

Bad Points:
The window in the room was so dirty it was like looking through frosted glass.
There was mould around the bath and shower panel and the paint in the bathroom was peeling off.

The television did not work

From first thing in the morning until late afternoon large piles of dirty linen, not even in linen skips, were left outside the room as were several dirty plates (none of which belonged to us, unfortunately our room 322 was across from the linen room, so the cleaner seemed to leave all dirty things there)

The matteress and pillows were both very uncomfortable and lumpy

The curtains were not long enough to stoplight coming through the window.

The service at breakfast was none existant, tables were sticky.

Tea and coffee both undrinkable as served from large jugs which had been stewing for some time

The food was buffet style and very cheap, tinned tomatoes and powdered scrambled egg

When i comlained to the reception staff about the broken tv and the piles of dirty laundry they did not seem at all bothered and i was told that the laundry was there because it was next to the linen cupboard

All in all a very poor standard of accomodation, do not stay here.

I can not believe this place!'luxurious bedrooms""friendly and professional staff" HAH!This place was awful. The bedrooms were grubby, the bathrooms disgusting and the staff at best, were incompetent. To charge "luxury" prices and provide this kind of tat is unforgivable! The owners of this hotel should be ashamed of themselves.Staying at this hotel will age you very quickly!!
