Location, location, location.
This hotel is right bang in the centre of Brighton.
Outside the door and across the road is the Lanes, turn left and the North Laine starts on the corner. Two minutes up North Street and you are at the centre of the shopping area. Five minutes the other way and you are at the sea front and right outside the pier. Location cannot be bettered.
Value, value, value.
On a weekend, any Brighton Hotel charges upwards from £100.
They can be upscale B&B, chain hotels or the big hotels on the sea front. However, if you plan in advance and book well before then you can stay here for £68 a night.
Being a budget chain, the standards are fairly good.
Staff were pleasant and did what was needed.
Both check in and out were quick and easy.
Rooms were simply appointed but had all you needed.
Tea and coffee, a television, hairdryer, good bed, nice bathroom.
Bad points. Rooms don't have air conditioning.
So on a hot day it became a furnace as there a large windows across the whole wall which trap the sunlight.
They did however provide fans for some respite and by the evening it was acceptable.
Other bad point was noise. Being a city centre hotel in one of the liviest cities in the UK, you would hear street noise from revellers late at night. But you'd hear this with almost all Brighton hotels, so dont be put off by it. The only cure would be to triple glaze the windows.
My advice would make sure you wear yourself out with all the shops. Enjoy a nightcap before going to bed and you'll sleep like a log anyway.
