“Wonderful stay, very helpful staff, beautiful room”

The Royal Pavilion Townhouse Hotel

We stayed at this hotel earlier this week, and had a wonderful time. We were in the Bejing Dragon room, loved the decoration and the jacuzzi bath. The staff could not have been more helpful, and were very good in providing a special breakfast for my vegetarian boyfriend.

The only tiny niggle was that the wifi was slow, but I was still able to get the work done that I needed to. It wasn't a big problem at all.

I would recommend this to anyone. Very good value.

“Quite nice but looking worn”

The Royal Pavilion Townhouse Hotel

29 Sep 2007

Stayed here last thursday night for my birthday. We had the Louis room which was nice and had a good view of the square / sea.

The staff were really helpful and pleasant, a good breakfast brought to our room and lovely molton brown products in the bathroom.

The only downfall was that it felt a bit worn, the bathroom floor needed redoing and the bed was full of squeeks even if you just turned over and the towels thin - not what you would expect for £100 a night.

“Very Mixed feelings.........strange set up”

The Royal Pavilion Townhouse Hotel

As well traveled people who have had fun slumming it in hostels, owned and run a four star hotel & restaurant for years and stayed at the most luxurious hotels in the world we found this Hotel most strange - which, when reading this review, you should take into account.....at a mid-week rate of £120.00 one things for sure - value for money is not that great.
Upon arrival we note the red and white ''Blackpool b&b style'' sign outside, we were not sure if this was retro/trendy or just old...I don’t know, maybe we are getting old?...the entrance is stained wooden corridors with white painted banisters and small areas of red carpet and all doors are red - room names are transferred onto doors in white paint - again trendy edge to it, but also the way it writes over the old holes and door signs takes the 'edge' off...we were quite concerned at this stage - we rang the reception (window hatch) bell and waited....and waited...and waited....and then rang again....and waited...eventually a very welcoming and lovely lady welcomed us - just as well she was so very nice otherwise we would be fed up with waiting! - check in simple and friendly and we were taken upstairs to our room - there is no doubt that the room interiors are very skillfully decorated and exceptionally clean - just lacking some depth...and the odd bit is that they have gone to so much trouble and expense but missed so many little things - a plant at the end of the bed that really makes walking around the bed quite annoying, one wall in the bathroom wildly out of place (un-decorated?), a bath with just a hand held shower attachment, a TV that is tidily tucked away in a cupboard - yet hard for 2 people to watch in bed, a window open - great - nice andf resh but chilly (we did ask for some heat and there was no hesitation is satisfying this request)...every single person that walks outside the room sounds as if they are in your room...the mattress was slightly too thin which was uncomfortable - so, all in all, very petty things to mention, but with the price and the exceptional standard of most things - it was disappointing to see so many 'easy to fix' things wrong...breakfast was great - clean, hot and prompt - no complaints at all. So this is an odd review to leave if we could summerise in one sentence - be careful what you pay - have an open mind - focus on the good...I hope that the lovely and talented owners read this in the positive way it is meant. We would definitely stay again, but not at the rate we paid.

I am somewhat confussed with this review as the description does not describe our hotel in anyway, there are number of hotels in Brighton with very similar names. We have spent a lot of time and effort bringing The Royal Pavilion Townhouse in Regency Square up to a high standard. We recieve many bookings via a number of Internet hotel booking sites and the numerous high score ratings I believe indicate the high standards we offer.

“Gone downhill”

The Royal Pavilion Townhouse Hotel

This was our second stay at the hotel. First time brilliant but now, watch out!

The biggest problem was noise. Not creaking floorboards, but the "rocking" club which has now taken over the premises at the rear in Preston Street. 1.30am is not a great time to be forced to complain but I did, and eventually the music was turned off. It might help the hotel and its guests if something is done about sound-prooofing the roof light above the club.

The standard of the hotel fixtures, fittings and finishes is also on the downhill slope. When we stayed two years ago everything was perfect, but it is time for the owners to do it all again.

Small things were also a nuisance. No English tea but plenty of fancy stuff in the room. TV not tuned in, and a phone system which did not work at all.

The staff though were friendly and helpful.

I haven't done one of these reviews before but we had such a wonderful time we felt it was only fair to share our experience. We dicided to catch some of the January sales but didn't want to stay in one of the normal hotels so gave the Royal Pavilion Townhouse a go. We stayed in the Beijing Dragon and my wife simply fell in love with, the staff we very polite & willing without getting in your way. An example being that at 11:30pm we wanted to try somewhere nice to eat and were recommended a lovely restaurant, they even rang to check they were open I also asked if they could arrange a surprise for wife when we got back, even at 11:30pm nothing was too much trouble and on our return we had a great bottle on champagne on ice waiting for us. We are going to book again for Valentines day.
