Myself and my boyfriend arrived earlier than check in time but Tony was very welcoming and sat chatting to us while the room was finished off, he very kindly upgraded us from a standard room to the luxury room which was brilliant. The view looked down to the seafront and we could see the pier. The superkingsize bed was very comfy and no noise at all outside overnight.
Breakfast was filling and could not fault a thing with the hotel.
Very close to seafront and a quick walk takes you to the lanes and all the pubs and restaurants, ideal location...
we will definately be back to stay here again (when the weather improves!!)
Tony makes the stay very enjoyable and very knowlegeable about where to go etc...
I would stay here again without doubt and have already recommended it to our friends.

After spending 2 nights at Millards hotel, I would be more than willing to recommend this hotel for future visitors to Brighton. Tony, the owner, was very kind, and helpful with not only parking passes, but which attractions to visit and just making sure we were comfortable in general. I can see why some reviews on here would say he was a bit different - he did have a very slow and percise way of speaking - but was in no way rude or offensive. He meant well in everything he did.
Breakfast was fantastic! You were served just like you were in a restraunt, and had plenty of options.
After coming back to our room after a long day of touring, we came back to a warm, cozy, clean, prestine room, with soft music playing in the background!!!
The location of the hotel was perfect. Only seconds away from the beach, and close to all the shops and restraunts. On a one way street though, so be aware of this if driving. We had no problem finding a parking spot - in fact, we got one just one building away from the hotel!
We were warned by tony that the hotel was old, so we might hear some noise, but we honestly never heard anything. The only thing we heard was the seaguls from our open window!
All in all, a fantastic stay- definately staying here if I return to Brighton (which is a fantastic city by the way!).
Excellent value for money.

My boyfriend and I stayed here just before Christmas for a couple of nights and had a very pleasant stay....

We stayed in room 4 which was very clean and had everything we needed including a great power shower and very comfy bed.
(The lighting in the bathroom was quite bright so whilst in town I bought some tealights which made a lovely setting for my bath after a hard days shopping!)

When we arrived I was dissapointed to hear that a full breakfast wasn't available due to the chef being off for Christmas. I did mention this to Tony on the last day of our stay and he took some money off of our bill which i thought was fare enough. I have high standards when staying in hotels and something like this would normally get to me but as everything else was to our liking it really didn't matter.
I must recommend that if you do have any issues when staying somewhere you bring it up before you depart so that it can be rectified, more often than not it does pay off!

The hotel itself is well situated and we managed to find somewhere to park relatively close by (£5 for 24hours). It had modern decor and original artworks which was a nice touch.

I'm really baffled by the last two reviews and can only recommend that these people chill out a bit. If you wanted the Ritz then maybe you should have booked it!
As far as hosts go Tony was very helpful, friendly and accomodating and I wish him well for the future.

Kindest Regards
Rebecca & Cristian

Tony the owner/manager appeared behind us on the street as we rang the door bell, he had obviously just returned from his afternoon tipple, from the outset he appeared to relish in controlling the conversation and from that moment on we were bombarded with self satisfying, self praise of himself, himself and himself. This is a little B&B situated in a worn rubbish strewn street but conveniently located for what the town has to offer. The room, one of the better we understood, was basic with no luxuries and little attention to detail, fortunately the weather was good and we could get out, when the Tony coast was clear. The cringe moment we look back on being, as Tony heralded, "we do like clean, what do we like" his staring beam forced us to reply in unison, "we do like clean"...did we really do that? Yes we did, Tony controls and we wouldnt have liked to have crossed him. Breakfast had been given a big hype by Tony but in reality was a farce, basic greasy fry-up served at outdoors aluminium furniture, orange juice ran out, napkins being pieces of folded kitchen roll, but we did have the pleasure of being shown the "thank you" card display. A truly uneasy, terrible experience, but hey, each to their own, sorry we wont be back and we wont be joining the fan club.

“Rude and unpleasant”

My fiance and I made the decision to stay here for a cheap and cheerful weekend away and to take advantage of the great shops in Brighton before Christmas. We had looked at the reviews on Tripadviser and did notice that the owner Tony appeared to be mentioned by name in almost every review (both good and bad). We thought that he obviously made an impression on people and seeing as the location of the B&B was good, we decided to book. Never again!!

All I can say is, the less complimentary reviews on this site are more in keeping with our experience. Tony is the most unusual host I have ever met. He was extremely unfriendly and he tries to be intimidating in his manner towards his guests. We were two people wanting a quiet weekend away and did not cause any noise, damage or problems for the hotel during our stay. Tony made some fairly inappropriate comments towards us based on some very inaccurate assumptions. On reflection, I think that had we been different people, his comments could have caused a huge problem. As it was I am afraid we found it all rather comedic and sad. It was like watching a bad impression of Basil Fawlty up close. Based on our experience of Tony, I began to wonder whether the abundance of thank you cards stacked so obviously onto Tony's desk were genuine. When was the last time you sent a thank you card to a hotel?

Moving on from Tony...the B&B is in a good location but there are plenty of others to choose from in that area with more gracious hosts. The rooms are clean but a bit on the tired side. The breakfast was tasty and the chap in the kitchen was lovely and friendly. The main downside to this place in my view is Tony. I would recommend that anyone booking this hotel should read the bad reviews as well as the good ones. These may better prepare a guest for what behaviour they could expect from their host on arrival. If you do not think you could handle it, then I would say that Millards is best avoided.
