“Don't Do It!!!!!!!!”

Sea Spray Boutique Hotel

Dirty. Shower not working. No hot water at night. Taps not working. TV reception poor. Heating turned off at night - no good in November. Noisy - you can hear everything. Cramped (and I'm only 5'1"). Unfriendly reception, thye insisited that i had to pay for the remaining night that I had booked even though I couldn't wash in the room all weekend. I ignored the previous reviewer who complained about having to change hotels - and i had to do the same. LIGHTENING DOESN'T STRICK TWICE. BE WARNED.

“Fabulous place”

When you look at a website you can be seduced by the pictures and words, and hugely disappointed when you get there (been there, done that i am afraid).

Not the case with Seaspray - as stylish and lovely as it said it would be. Easy to find, clean, beautifully appointed, helpful staff and a great breakfast, tasty ingredients, no grease and even beautifully arranged on the plate! Maybe only little things, but they all add up. I even smiled at the notice about the towels in the room - all done with good grace and humour.

Will visit again and recommend it to others

“A Guest House pretending to be a Boutique Hotel”

Sea Spray Boutique Hotel

24 Oct 2007

The most misused and abused word in "hotel speak" these days is Boutique. It is a word which allows some hoteliers to provide very poor accommodation at an exhorbitant price. The Sea Spray in Brighton falls into this category.
It has been renovated as cheaply as possible. The doors are paper thin, and have huge gaps at the bottom. The TV screen has wires hanging down. The bed was a squeaky cheap stainless steel 4 poster...which had no point at all! Except to give the veneer of "quality". We were in their Venetian Suite at £200/night! We heard everything going on in the room upstairs - every footstep, flushing toilet and pant / yell of the couple making love! The windows were "porous".....ie the frames were so old there were holes in them, and on the Friday night we heard everything in the square outside. The bathroom was tiny....and to give an idea as to how cheap the operation was the toilet paper was rough cheap industrial stuff! So not content with spending very little on the capital improvements, the daily operating costs are also designed to upset the customer!....The one who's paying £200 a night!
There is nobody around after 9pm..! You have 3 keys for each different door. Yes...it's a Guest House!
The only saving grace was that the breakfast was good.
We had booked for 3 nights but left after one night. They insisted on the first nights charge being a non-refundable deposit...... but thankfully they agreed to us going without any more charge. We went to Hotel du Vin to a smaller and cheaper room but with everything done well!
We also stayed in the Hotel Una for our last night and it was what we had thought the Sea Spray was going to be. Again a better room at a lower price. The owner of the Sea Spray should go around to Hotel Una and see how to do it properly.

The hotel was everything i imagined it to be. The owners are clever but surely that's what business is all about! The rooms are spacious and the hotel is set in a beautiful location, a minutes walk from the water - perfect! Trendy but elegant, everything you would expect from a small seaside hotel!

“ideal for a night away”

Sea Spray Boutique Hotel

My husband and I stayed at the Sea Spray this weekend after deciding on a last minute trip to Brighton. We found this to be one of very few places who would accept a one night stay on a weekend.

the hotel staff were very friendly and check in was easy. We stayed in the 'brighton family room' (as this was the only one left), it was very big.
£135 isn't cheap but i don't think many places are in Brighton. The room did have ikea lights but who cares... There are so many things to do in brighton that being in our room wasn't top of the list. It suited our needs perfectly.
