My friend and I have just returned from a fabulous mid-week break at the whitehouse. From the moment we arrived Sean and Kathryn ensured we felt welcome and informed us of the best places to eat and shop. Our room (a luxury double) was superb. It was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated with a comfy bed and flat screen telly. Small touches such as chocs and a selection of twinings fruit teas made our stay extra special. As for the breakfast, we went for the fishy one (smoked salmon and scrambled eggs) and the veggie, both of which were the best we have ever had. We were sad to leave and will definately be returning. Thoroughly recommended!!

We love The White House. We have just returned from our 4th stay and cannot rate it highly enough.

We have stayed in three of the available rooms, most recently The Suite, which is fabulous. The rooms are chic, decorated to a very high standard and kept in immaculate condition.

The owners, Sean and Kathryn are great hosts. They offer unrivalled personal service and are welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. You can see the effort they put into your stay and that they are genuinely concerned with ensuring you have a great time. There are lots of small touches, as well as the larger ones, which make The White House special - for example, toilettries by Gilchrist & Soames, a corkscrew provided in your room (just let them know if you need to borrow glasses), beautiful linen and towels and a very comprehensive (and genuinely useful) Guests Information Pack. Sean and Kathryn even have an account with a local Kemp Town DVD rental shop to allow their guests the opportunity to rent films to watch during their stay. This is a great example of the sort of attention to detail that you wil not experience at larger hotels.

Sean's breakfasts are FANTASTIC. You will not get better. As a chef he is a great person to ask about restaurants in the area and has given us unbiased and detailed advice when choosing where to eat (we loved 'Sevendials Restaurant' near the station).

We would have to disagree with a previous reviewer regarding Room 2 ('small double'). We have stayed in this cosy, comfortable room twice and have enjoyed thoroughly good nights sleep. It is great value and is beautifuly decorated, as are all rooms in The White House.

The White House is our Number 1 as the personal service and attention to detail coupled with great owners, lovely breakfasts and superb rooms make this is an easy option when coming to Brighton - We wouldn't stay anywhere else. We have just booked our 5th stay at The White House - need we say more?!

“nice little B&B”

The White House

15 Feb 2008

We stayed at the White House on a two night Valentines break, after reading the postiive reviews in Trip Advisor. The room was a small double on the middle floor. It was clean, cosy and tastefully decorated, if a lttle noisy due to the constant stream of traffic outside. Sean, the owner was friendly, helpful and a great cook providing a first class breakfast. The owners clearly take pride in their B&B and it shows. We came back from our Valentines dinner to find a little box of heart shaped chocolates in our room, a nice touch. The place is clearly popular, as it appeared to be fully booked on our departure. It is well positioned for both the sea front and only a 10 minute walk to the heart of Brighton. There are no parking facilities at the White House itself, but Sean directed us to pay by meter parking a couple of streets up. You can also purchase a permit to park from the owner for £5. All in all a very pleasant stay and if we went again, I would book a bigger room away from the road.

My partner and i stayed here as a late Christmas present!!! It was worth the wait...the lovely couple that run this intimate boutique hotel were simply lovely, and so helpful - even lent us a large brolley when it rained!!! We will definately be re-visiting, from what we saw, there are a lot of naff hotels in brighton, but is certainly NOT one of them!!! RECOMMENDED!

“Fabulous New Year's Eve”

We stayed for two nights, including New Year's Eve, as part of a longer trip around southern England. Everything met and surpassed expectations. The room was clean and cozy. It was small, but decorated in a way that optimized the space. The bed was very comfortable!

It's a small detail, but we were impressed that the bathroom products were provided in large, refillable pump bottles rather than the small travel size that most hotels provide. This is, of course, much more friendly for the environment and doesn't leave you wondering what's going to happen when you're in the shower and the little bottle of shampoo runs out.

The breakfast was delicious and offered in a lovely dining room on the lower level.

Finally, the owners were friendly and helpful. We had planned to spend New Year's in Brighton, but had no idea what we were going to do. Upon arrival, however, one of the owners gave me a rundown of the town and recommended some places to check out for New Year's Eve ideas.

All in all, a great stay!
