I booked a 2 night weekend break for my girlfriend and myslef to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. From the moment we arrived we were put at ease from the warm welcome of kieran and chris. These two are pure stars and were born to run this upmarket boutique guest house. (Their website does not do the place justice). I researched heavily on where to stay in Brighton for under £150 a night. This place topped them all for what you got for your money. We had room 6 which is a luxury room crammed full of antique furnishings a 4 poster bed and a double walk in shower. It was only £100 a night which included a cracking breakfast. Obviously if you have the cash and want to pay more than 3 times this, you could stay at Drakes or hotel una. But for people on a budget who want luxury this is the place to stay !

“The best hotel stay I have ever had!”

The Griffin Guest House

From the moment I booked this hotel Kieran and Chris's friendliness was noted. On arrival it continued to surpass any other hotel experience I have had from camping to 5 star hotels I have stayed in around the globe. Visiting for a 2night weekend break whilst celebrating my birthday was made by the brilliant stay.

We stayed in the top floor bedroom with the jacuzzi and the room was stunning. Exactly as shown on the website and enormous. Beautifully decorated, huge fluffy white towels, clean, tidy and the mini fridge was bound to be a bonus for chilling the champers!

I'd read about the breakfast's being fantastic and boy were the reviews right. Superb. I had the Griffin breakfast one day and the bacon sandwich the other which I must say was the best hangover cure ever. These lovely boys sure know how to look after their guests.

The location is spot on being moments away from the pier yet not slap bang in the centre where the volumes of people get crazy at the weekend.

Nothing was too much trouble during this stay and I will definitely be going back.

“Absolutely Loved it!”

The Griffin Guest House

If you want to stay in a wonderful hotel with two lovely proprietors, stay here! We took our two 18 year old daughters for a weekend in Brighton and were totally at home at the Griffin. Keiran and Chris are two exceptional hosts that really make you feel at ease. Nothing was too much for them, the brekfasts and rooms were exceptional, both our daughters want to go back for more shopping and we would definately stay here. If booking ring Keiran and not one of these internet bookings, he is really helpful and you will probrably get the room cheaper. Could not fault it.

“Stylish, central and a good price”

The Griffin Guest House

The Griffin is a lovely guest house, in a fantastic location. Very easy to walk to all that Brighton has to offer, with parking easy to find on the streets outside (wtih a parking permit, available from the guest house). The rooms are stylishly furnished, well appointed and clean. Te owners are friendly and welcoming and their breakfasts are well prepared and tasty. Highly recommended.

“changes”

The Griffin Guest House

26 Jan 2008

Having enjoyed an excellent stay at the griffin guest house in 2006 and wishing to book another special treat we booked again for 2007. New owners were friendly and made us feel welcome. There was a larger breakfast menu than when we stayed before.

The new owners have replaced a lot of the antique furniture and pictures from the reception area and the room we stayed in for both visits (although this is still shown on the web pictures) and replaced it with cheaper things. The level of cleanliness of the room and the en suite was poorer than our last visit with hairs and stains around the toilet and floor.
Noise from the street and the pub opposite, not noticed on our last stay, carried on well into the early hours of the morning. I am sorry about this as this was a real gem of a guest house, but now seems to have lost something of it's charm and cleanliness. For the amount of money we paid we will try somewhere else next time we go to Brighton.
