“Great hotel by the station”

Jurys Inn Brighton

24 Apr 2008

Booked online Apr 2008-said it was brand new and it is.There are a lot of upmarket apartments being built close by but there was no problem with noise-they'll all be finished by Summer 08 anyway. Walk outside the front reception and your are 50 yards form the main train station-so if you are coming from Gatwick or London, you can see the hotel as you draw in. Loads of taxis there as well.
Hotel is about a 10-15 min walk to the seaside (go to a great buffet Chinese called Wokmania-excellent). The reception is bright and spacious and the bar is very nice-loads of comfy seats and sofas. We stayed there unti 0300 (bar shuts at 0130) and had no hassles.Rooms are a good size-everything was clean. No problems with noise-didn't have breakfast so cant comment.
I would definetly stay there again-far enough away from the front not to get hassled but short taxi ride. And excellent location for the train. Try it-you wont be disappointed

We were a little worried about using the railway station car park as we have heard ' its only 5 minutes away' so many times. In this case it would have more accurately described as 1 minute.

Both the public areas and the rooms are fine although our bathroom was cold (no visible source of heating)

Breakfast is very good and excellent value.

Service at the bar whilst we were there was excellent.

We had one evening meal & despite there being only one other table occupied the service was poor, down to lack of training rather than lack of effort I think & the waitress was very pleasant but had no idea of service (steak knives not offered, table not cleared between courses etc.).

The front desk manager is not the sharpest, arranged for us to be a delivered a newspaper we hadn't ordered & when it was given back to her on checking out took it back from us but didn't think to remove it from the bill. She also wanted my credit card before giving me the bill. So not the greatest service.

All in all worth the £69.00 per night we paid, although the £10.00 car parking put the price up a little.

Next time would probably pay more for a hotel closer to the centre of Brighton as this one is a long walk from the centre

“Great hotel”

Jurys Inn Brighton

7 Apr 2008

Just returned from a weekend at this hotel. Hotel is only a few month's old so everything is brand new. Liked the fact that you need your room key card to use the lift and stairs to the bedrooms. Gives a feeling of security. Room very clean & comfortable. Excellent buffet breakfast. Location just across from the railway station and about twenty minutes walk from the seafront. Shopping centre within fifteen minutes. This is our second stay at a Jurys Inn and would definitely choose this hotel chain again. A feature of these hotels we particularly like is the machines which provide water, water & ice or ice. Great for chilling wine!

This hotel has only opened recently, and offers some good advance purchase rates on its website.

Parking is in the station car park opposite at GBP 10 per 24 hours.

All the money has been spent on the public areas. The room was disappointing - not much better than the Travelodge, but quite OK.

Location is great if you need ot go to Trafalgar Place or the station. Otherwise there is nothing really close by. If you don't mind walking, you will find places to eat in town. But you'll want to take a taxi back as it's all uphill!

Will stay there as long as the rates are reasonable.

“Great hotel, grumpy service.”

We booked a night in Jury's inn as we were staying in Brighton for a friends birthday and wanted somewhere cheap (we paid £55 for three!). The hotel itself was fab with fresh paint, clean and well decorated rooms and being by the train station we didn't have to pay a taxi to haul our luggage around Brighton.
The hotel is situated just north of the lanes, so it's a bit of a trek up a hill but we managed to stumble back ok!

The only reason I'm not marking this hotel as excellent is because of the staff. During our check in the receptionist didn't make it clear that we could pay by cash which caused some stress, and then when exiting the hotel later we were shouted at across the hotel because we were walking through the tempremental doors (that had no sign on them to state you should be careful!). So generally the staff were rude, which dampened our stay.

We didn't eat in the hotel we opted to have breakfast in the lanes as there are some great cafes, but be warned nothing opens until 10am! However we did venture into the bar where we enjoyed some beverages at a reasonable price.
Overall I'd say this is a great, cheap hotel to stay when visiting Brighton, I just hope the upkeep of it is maintained to a high standard, as it was only months old when we visited.
