“Bank Holiday Weekend in Brighton”

Jurys Inn Brighton

Save Review
4 of 5 stars
London, UK
31 May 2008

My boyfriend and I needed a room in Brighton for one night over the bank holiday weekend. The Jury's Inn was the only hotel I could find that would allow this (all the others had a 2 or 3 night minimum at bank holidays), so we had to book it.

It was quite expensive (£129 for one night), but as it was our only option we went for it.

The location is great - literally 3 or 4 mins alk from the train station and only 5-10mins to the North Laines.
Even though the check in area was really busy when we arrived, we only had to wait for half a minute or so, before another member of staff appeared to check us in. The reception manager checked us in and he was really friendly and very efficient.
The keycard that they gave us for our room also was needed to call the lifts - which I thought was quite funky, and also added an extra security feature I guess, as only guests would be able to access lifts.
I think that many of the guests were down in Brighton for a night out, including a few hen/stag parties. This said our room was quiet and we couldn't hear any noise from neighbouring rooms/corridors, except doors being opened/closed.
The room itself was very clean and quite large. The bed was nice and comfy and I was pleasantly surprised to see a big plasma tv, with Sky One on it!
The shower was nice and powerful and there were plenty of nice towels for us to use.
Check out was easy enough for us as we had decided to pay on arrival, but other people who still had to pay did seem to be waiting around for a while (I guess that's what happens if you leave check out to the very, verry last minute like we did!)

Overall, a really good hotel - very clean and modern, good staff that we saw, great location and would allow a one night stay at a weekend.
The only downside for me (aside from the price) was pretty much expected - a bit of a sterile feel that you often get from chain hotels like this. However, I know many people who like this, so it's not really a downside at all!

“Good Budget Hotel Close to Station”

Jurys Inn Brighton

This is a good quality standard budget hotel to normal Jurys Inn standards. You won't get marble bathroom fittings, but everything is clean, modern and spacious.

Plus points are ..
- Position to station (just behind it)
- Modern hotel with modern facilities
- In a newly developed & quiet area of Brighton
- Close to the North Laines

Points to consider ...
- Not ultra luxurious
- A way away from the seafront (& up the hill) so not as good a location for conferences
- Good & large flat screen TV with plenty of channels

All in all an excellent stay & good value, so a great business stop if you are planning to be out with colleagues or friends.

“Nice Hotel”

Jurys Inn Brighton

26 May 2008

I stayed at this hotel for a night as part of a hen party which they have no problem in accommodating. What they DO have a problem with is reserving some space or tables for lunch/dinner, no matter how large your group or how much notice you give them!!!! We had a party of 25 people and they just didn't want to know. A few days before we were due to arrive we made an enquiry to see if we could reserve some tables/ an area for lunch. They said they didn't reserve tables as they may be 'busy '. They said they couldn't do anything to help, not even knock a few tables together. When we arrived there we two people sat eating and the resturaunt and bar area was HUGE!!! They could have easily have helped us. They ended up losing about £500 from us which we would have easily spent with them.

There were quite a few hen and stag parties and the staff do not seem to mind mind rowdy or noisy poeple. For families though, teh hotel is big enough for you to avoid party goers if you wish.

All the staff, with the exception of the Reception Manager, were a really miserable collection of people who couldn't raise a smile at all and weren't overly happy to help.

That said, the hotel itself was nice. The whole hotel was very new looking with soft carpets and bright colours. The rooms were a good size and very clean. It's a nice place to stay but not reccommended for somewhere you would like to stay and feel special.

The location wasn't too bad either. On a map it looks a fair distance from a lot of attractions but if you cut through the station the shops and beach aren't that far.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the JI this weekend. The hotel was really good and excellent value for money.

We liked the fact that it was near the station, as we didnt need to drag our luggage up the hill after our stay! The fact that it was out of the centre was a bonus which meant it wasn't noisy at all.

The rooms were spacious, clean and comfy. We didnt stay in the room much as the weather was gorgeous and we found places to eat and drink outside.
Dont waste your money or time dining or drinking in the hotel, venture out!!
The area where the hotel is, is being developement. We didnt hear any noise whilst we were there, and the little strip of bars/resturant 5 mins away was new and very good.

We would defo go back to JI again, if we can get the similar price and the standard of hotel is still the same.

Don't let the hill put you off going to the hotel!!

Good new hotel in an area of Brighton, next to the station, that is still being redeveloped. So some building noise. I slept well though. Good comfortable room. Good bar design, shame they forgot to serve me my food, which was overpriced and average. I recommend walking 5 minutes down the hill to the nearest pub - better beer, better food, cheaper. I think it was called The Lord Nelson. This hotel is uphill from the coast - 10 minutes walk. £59 is a fair price to pay, in Brighton, I think.
