“Trash & Treasure”

Brighton

If you go to Brighton, you HAVE to visit the North Laines! Here you will find street after street of independent & specialist retailers selling trash & treasure, designer brands & unique one-offs, retro & vintage.
Interiors, antiques, clothing, jewellery, junk shops, books & accessories are abound.
Put aside and hour or two to wander around Snoopers Paradise in Kensington Gardens. This is the UK's largest Flea Markets with over 100 sellers under one roof. There is a fantastic Retro furniture section with funky lighting as well as deco and victorian artifacts. China, glass, ceramics, jewellery & clothing can all be found at great prices in the Emporium. For me, this place sums up Brighton, trash & treasure.
ENJOY!

“Brighton! Brighton! Brighton! Where else in England!”

Brighton

Brighton is quite frankly probably the most enjoyable City in England. Any visitor to England simply cant leave without paying the historic city a visit! Nick named London by sea, it is true that there is an open minded feel to the city, an eclectic mix of people all living together in harmony!!!!! From the transvestite buying her fruit & veg in the market, to the blue haired girl shopping in the lanes, to the pierced to high heaven man walking his dog!!!! Brighton certianly offers something different.

Do visit kemptown village with it's quant little shops, delis and cafes. Brighton Marina seems to be a wasted opportunity, it couldhave been so nice! Definately worth a visit for the seafront restaurants but not necessarily the shops.

Brighton has its fair share of great hotels and B & B's but for us the option has to be self caterting accommodation. The standard today is such that you get the feel of a hotel without the restrictions and the lack of privacy, not to mention the cost savings! Our favourite has to be Brighton's largest self catering accommodation agency City Pad at [--]

Alternatively visit some of the smaller private owners websites such as [--] and deal direct with the owners. We like the larger agencies as they have a lot more to choose from.

Hotels to reccomend would have to be Drakes, stylish a little pricey but hey it is sea front.

Cant wait to go back to Brighton again in October!

We did a home exchange with a family in Lewes, which is quite near Brighton. We visited Brighton 3 times during our stay, usually arriving by train. I must say the trains in the UK are just amazing. Never more than a 30 minute wait between trains and they DO run on time.

Brighton has tons of interesting shops (and interesting people.) The beach is beautiful, despite being all rocks. We visited the Palace Pier with it's wonderful donuts (watch them being made!) and great amusement rides for the kids.

If you want a very touristy experience, Brighton can help. If you want to shop in an almost unlimited variety of mom & pop stores, Brighton is also the place.

Definitely worth a trip if you are in the area.

We have just returned from a two night break at a hotel that didn't have enough parking space. Luckily enough I had looked at some websites on parking in Brighton. We parked at an NCP car park in Russell Road right next to Churchill car park. Churchill Road car park charge up to £25 per 24 hours. Russell Road charge £14.70 per 24 hours. Just a warning to check before you park.
