We approached The Cutter Hotel and Public House on the offchance as we were in the area, which we didn't know well and saw they were advertising B & B's.
The room was £20 each for Room Only without Breakfast and we were lead upstairs from behind the bar to our room shortly afterwards by a friendly barmaid.
The room was disappointing - really looked like it required a deep clean and was quite tatty with old 1970's furnishings which wouldn't have looked out of place in a charity shop. The windows were single grazed (not great if you are in the liveliest part of the town) with deep cracks which looked like they could have fallen out/apart at any minute. The bed was ok and, although very old, was comfortable enough.
It was a shared bathroom which also need extensive work and cleaning and again, was very old fashioned which looked like it had been used relentlessly and carelessly over a long period
Overall, there are better places to stay at roughly the same price in the area and The Cutter do not help themselves as it would not take a great deal of time and money to make the room and bathroom considerably better. The stay was hassle-free and convienient so it would really only suit people looking to sleep there after a night on the town and nothing else. Use only if you have no other alternative and want to stay in the old town.
