My girlfriend and I live in central London, and couldn't wait to get away to the countryside. We were there for three nights, and could have happily stayed longer. Barbara and Bill were so kind to us during our stay, and made us feel thoroughly at home. When we arrived, Bill was on his way back from feeding the chickens, and cheerfully introduced himself and welcomed us. We all headed inside and met Barbara, who is lovely. The couple are obviously so very caring about their guests, and indeed their beautiful house.
I have never slept in such a comfortable bed in my whole life. We stayed in Mungo park, which is such a homely, tasteful room. And so clean! The en suite was immaculate, and the shower was great. There was no shortage of information about the surrounding area, and we had to pick and choose what we could do as we sadly didn't have long enough to do it all! Barbara helped us decide what we would do, offering ideas for both good and bad weather. We did have a short burst of rain on the saturday morning, but were kindly each lent a pair of wellies as we wanted to go for a walk; which was very kind. We don't have much call for wellies in London, and hadn't thought that one through.
The breakfasts were fantastic, and it was great fun knowing the eggs had been laid within 50m of where we ate them - I had a 'double yoke' twice. And what a view to look out on whilst eating. Their beautiful Lurcher, Millie, was contently playing in the garden; who, I must say, if you meet, you will fall in love with.
I think that if you are looking for a great base to explore the surrounding area, then Larks Rise is the place to stay. I was sad to leave, and would recommend the B&B to anyone. Two of our friends have already booked in to stay in April on the strength of our enjoyment of our break. I have not met such geniune people as Bill and Barbara in quite some time, and they - in my own eyes - went beyond just providing a service. We couldn't have had a better stay.
The Cotswolds are a beautiful place, which we fully intend on returning to explore. And when we do so, we will certainly be coming back to Larks Rise.
Thank you Bill and Barbara.
We stayed in Mungo Park. The quality of sleep was outstanding, it is such a comfortable room.
