We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. A very nice hotel. Our room was very comfortable, but ill lit. Actually the whole hotel is very badly lit, but if you like it low lit and romantic this is the place for you!
We had breakfast at the hotel (not included in the room price) which was very tasty, but a bit on the pricey side. We ate dinner on one night, starters and main courses lovely, but the puddings were a bit dissappointing. All in all a lovely hotel and we would definitely return.

We booked this at the last minute on the back of recommendations on tripadvisor and were not disappointed. Because of our late booking, we could not stay in the same room for all 3 nights - which meant we got to try two different ones!
The Charles Pitt boasts a massage bed which allows the feet and head to be raised - great after a hard day's shopping in Cheltenham, although I personally found the massage part just a bit weird and the bed is clearly not designed to combat roll-together if you have a much bigger spouse as I do!
After our second night, our luggage was transferred in the morning up to the Duke of Wellington which sports a solidly-made super-comfortable four-poster bed from where we ordered delicious steak sandwiches and watched DVDs all night (all rooms have players). The newly-installed modern spa bathrooms really added the wow factor.
We ate in the hotel brasserie one night - excellent food and wine although a little pricey. The Hotel on the Park thoroughly deserves the plaudits it has received. Yes, it's expensive and attracts racing regulars who move in a different world to us "ordinary folk" but the cosiness and warm welcome of the owners never made us feel out of place.

“Great hotel, very relaxing stay!”

My husband and I spent two very relaxing days at this beautiful hotel. The decor is a clever mix of traditional and modern and the atmoshphere very relaxing. Upon arriving we were promptly checked in and shown up to our room which had a stunning four poster bed. The bathroom was equally stunning, with a whirlpool bath. We only had one evening meal in the restaurant, and I must say that the food was excellent and the staff very helpful and charming! A great stay in a beautiful part of the world and I hope that we may visit again!

I have just returned from a fantastic weekend at the Hotel on the Park. I arranged the weekend as a birthday present for my wife and was concerned that it all went well. I needn't have worried about a thing.
Phoned the hotel prior to the stay and they couldn't have been more helpful in arranging for flowers and a bottle of wine to be there on arrival. Got a bit lost on the journey up and phoned the hotel for directions, not a problem.
The room (Catherine Sinclair) was everything I had hoped for and more it was clean and fresh (obviously no smokers allowed, great!!). The infinity bath was fantastic and really did relax you as claimed.
I can't understand the other reviews on here claiming of a feeling of being unwelcome. In my experience this couldn't be more wrong.
All the staff were extremely helpful and always professional.
Location of the hotel is a 10min walk to the town centre and in easy reach of some nice pubs and bars.
I really hope to stay again and recommend this to anybody who needs a well earned break.
We ate at the restaurant on the Friday night and could see why the hotel has won so many awards. The Teddy Bears were also welcoming!

“Disappointed - nice hotel but unwelcoming.”

Hotel on the Park

From the moment I saw their website I felt that this was a hotel which made an effort and we were not disappointed when we arrived. The owners have really made a big effort in the design and decoration areas. However, I was kind of alerted that all might not be what it seemed when I received the email confirmation of our booking. In it it said that if you smoked in the bedrooms you would have to pay £100 for fumigation! While I support their policy, I though this was a bit out of order.

Anyway, when we arrived at the hotel we were soon reminded about the smoking policy and also about no mobiles in the restaurant. When we got into our room, there were notices everywhere - no smoking again, please switch TV off when not in use, and amazingly, a note saying that if you damaged any fabrics you would be charged.

The room itself was very nice though the "aromatherapy" bath seemed to consist of a blue light that went on under the water. The restaurant is very average with untrained staff. There is a nice bar but it was usually unmanned. We went in one evening after dinner and there was no barman. I went and found him in reception where he was doing some bookkeeping with another girl. A few minutes after he served us our drinks, the girl came into the bar with her coat on and announced that the bar was now closed, before promptly walking out of the hotel. The other guests in the bar were as surprised as we were.

The location is a bit out of town and quite far away from the nicer areas where the best shops and restaurants are, and there is very limited parking.

This a nice hotel but I have never felt more unwelcome. The pervading feeling was that you were intruding and that they really didn't want you there. The hotel is owned by a couple and the lady did at least try, but one got the impression that husband just didn't want to be there, or in fact for guests to be there.
