“Stunning place, amazing stay”

Lainston House Hotel

20 Jul 2008

I just came back from a nice romantic week-end with my girlfriend at Lainston House and we really enjoyed every moment of it.
Initially i wanted to stay in Windsor but we went a couple of times to Pennyhill Park (another property managed by Exclusive hotels) and after having read the reviews for Lainston House i decided to give it a try.
We booked a junior suite, trough their website, the room was called "poplar": extremely spacious and with amazing features (a four pillar iron bed, two large iron chandeliers, a separate massive bathtub), we felt like in a small castle.
The property itself is magnificient, the garden is pristine and we felt really like in a Jane Austen book. Service is good, the hotel being rather small you really have a feeling of belonging there. Food was brilliant. Couldnt find anything bad (apart maybe from the price, but given the quality of the service it's unavoidable).
All in all a great place for a romantice stay!

Our second stay at Lainston and the first time with our baby daughter. I was a bit nervous about having a baby there in case she screamed and kept all the other guests awake but it wasn't a problem at all.

I got an internet rate of £170 room only which was good value; they put us in a vast, beautiful room, well away from any other guests it would seem! On arrival there was already a travel cot made up for our daughter with fresh sheets and a teddy, and a box of baby goodies like wipes, bath gel etc, which was very thoughtful.

We had a wonderful dinner, a great night sleep and the best cooked breakfast I've had in years. Our daughter was made very welcome at breakfast dispite her messy antics.

All in all another memorable trip to Lainston.

“Beautiful retreat”

Lainston House Hotel

31 May 2008

Beautiful hotel in a great setting, wonderful restaurant with scrumptious food, good service, delightful clean room with view ,although like most period properties the floors were far from flat (or that may have been the alcohol consumption!).. Impressive quaint place.

“Fantastic wedding night stay!!!!”

Lainston House Hotel

19 Apr 2008

My best man booked me and my wife into Lainston House last year on our wedding day.
It was completely last minute as he'd mucked up our reservation for another hotel, but somehow he managed to totally redeem himself by getting us in here!
We got married at Sparsholt college which was excellent - but Lainston was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!

I dont know the name of our room but it must of been one of the best there.
Huge room, timber beams everywhere, great views from every window, decor just fantastic (in an old rustic England sort of way), huge four poster bed, huge bathroom, chocolates, champagne, roses, breakfast in bed, stunning grounds, croquet on the lawn and excellent staff - really professional and friendly.

This is the best hotel i've ever stayed in: heaps of character, cant reccommend it enough.

“Another fabulous stay!”

Lainston House Hotel

Yet again a wonderful stay. We had Sycamore, a beautiful suite full of charm and character with a stunning four poster and acres of space accompanied by an oversized bathroom with walk in shower, enormous bath etc.

Our meal in the restaurant was probably the best ever (we are fortunate to eat here three or four times a year). The restaurant and bar staff are always very attentive and we are made to feel very welcomed.

If we had one tiny niggle it would be that the hotel in general is always way too warm. The huge open fire in reception is wonderful but the rooms and public areas could do to be a few degrees cooler (not easy to fit air-con in an established building I know). This aside, Lainston remains our favourite place to eat locally and we can't wait for our next visit!
