Considering some of the reviews I was pleasantly suprised at my room (215) . Plenty of space, decent TV and internet connection for a cheap hotel. Clean and tidy. Shower curtain did drive me mad as it invaded the bath but the shower was excellent with loads of pressure (fixed head type just in case you are a lady with long hair )
The lift was a bit slow and small and the lobby area badly laid out and tired.
Breakfast overlooking the water was nice and the service was swift and friendly. Room service was also swift and I have no issues with any part of the service.
I have stayed in many hotels and this one wasn't bad at all. I would go back if I had to stay in Dover again.

“Dirtiest”

Probaly the dirtiest hotel we have ever stayed in, everything from the bar glasses to our room toilet was filthy. the service in the dinning room was no better taking 2 hours to have a 2 course meal. the only saving grace was the view and the food was good despite a limited menu. Also very noisy all night.

The location is fantastic - right on the seafront and one minute's drive from the hoverport, five from the ferryport. The room was amazing, because I've never had to go uphill to the bathroom before, but otherwise of a shabby English seaside hotel standard. However, we had booked dinner, B & B as we were planning to arrive quite late and we didn't want to have to go out to eat. I had read: "The Brasserie is an experience in itself. Delight in our service and the quality of our cuisine. As you would expect of a waterfront restaurant, seafood is a speciality" on their website, so it sounded OK. As it was VERY expensive (£29 for the Dover Sole, £2.75 for 'speciality bread' which turned out to be 4 rolls, £3.50 for a bottle of water), we expected that it was going to be good. How wrong we were! An overcooked piece of fish served with pre-cooked, re-heated vegetables was what we received, with indifferent service. Breakfast was a similarly poor experience, since I have never had to carve scrambled egg before!
However, at £69 for room only, this would be a perfect stopover to catch an early ferry - just avoid the restaurant.

Stayed at this hotel on business and chose it as I know the area well and the location is excellent, close to the town, Dover East, Hoverport and Channel Tunnel.

The hotel does have an aura of faded glory but they have made an attempt to smarten it up. A few corridors were being painted and my room appeared to be newly decorated. It makes a change to stay at a hotel which is not entirely kitted out in anodyne IKEA beech style furniture.

Overall the building, its location and its quirkiness lend themselves to an atmospheric hotel.

Good breakfast, nice staff - I would happily stay here again and for £69 and free and safe parking, can't complain.

Had stayed here 10 years ago when I was working in Dover so I thought I'd make a nostalgic return during a business journey to France.

This turned out to be a bad move, the hotel has hardly changed in all these years, and it was pretty shabby back then.

I was given room 301, at the end of a corridor right next to the stairs. The floor of the room sloped quite significantly but this was the least of my worries.

The catalogue of problems included gaps so big around the window frame that a howling gale blew through all night, non-existent hot water, kettle not working, TV remote falling apart and noise from the stairs outside the door. The room was so cold I barely slept.

The smell from the kitchen was most unappealing so I'm glad I ate before I arrived. Needless to say, I avoided breakfast and checked out for my morning ferry crossing very swiftly.

I do not intend to return.
