The location is fantastic - right on the seafront and one minute's drive from the hoverport, five from the ferryport. The room was amazing, because I've never had to go uphill to the bathroom before, but otherwise of a shabby English seaside hotel standard. However, we had booked dinner, B & B as we were planning to arrive quite late and we didn't want to have to go out to eat. I had read: "The Brasserie is an experience in itself. Delight in our service and the quality of our cuisine. As you would expect of a waterfront restaurant, seafood is a speciality" on their website, so it sounded OK. As it was VERY expensive (£29 for the Dover Sole, £2.75 for 'speciality bread' which turned out to be 4 rolls, £3.50 for a bottle of water), we expected that it was going to be good. How wrong we were! An overcooked piece of fish served with pre-cooked, re-heated vegetables was what we received, with indifferent service. Breakfast was a similarly poor experience, since I have never had to carve scrambled egg before!
However, at £69 for room only, this would be a perfect stopover to catch an early ferry - just avoid the restaurant.
