Basic but great. As a stopover on our walk of the Cumbrian Way this proper walker's hostelry in the magnificent scenery at the end of Langdale provided shelter, hot water, a fine resident's lounge, substantial helpings of pub grub and a full breakfast to set us up for a day's walking. If you aren't a walker stay somewhere smarter, if you are you'll love it.

A fabulous experience! ODG is land-locked if you're driving so you can only leave it by retracing your route in...but that's only 6 or 7 miles and it is through some beautiful countryside. The fabric of the hotel has seen better days but this is a hotel in rustic Little Langdale and is very much in character. Everything was clean, everything worked, the owners and the staff were really helpful, the food (breakfast, packed lunches and dinner-we tried them all) was exceptionally good and there is an excellent drinks selection from either the Residents' Bar or the Public Bar. Neil and Jane have a real gem here, by all means check it out but don't tell ALL your friends...I'd like to be able to return without going onto a stand-by list!
