“Ruined Holiday at High Spy Kirkstone Foot”

The apartment was nice on first impressions but had very strong fire doors throughout - on the first day of our stay our three year old grandson got his finger caught in one of the firedoors and was rushed to hospital - needless to say this totally ruined our holiday, as for the rest of the holiday we were paranoid about him being anywhere near these doors (which were throughout the apartment).

i must bring to your attention that we enquired to their office before booking whether the apartment would be suitable for a three year old and they assured us that it was and did not bring any possible dangers to our attention.

On return I wrote a letter to the owner of the High Spy Kirkstone Foot apartment laying out all our concerns - the letter of reply that came back was at best disgustingly rude!!! This man said that he did not feel they did anything wrong and was not in the least bit interested in compensating us for the rotten holiday that we had experienced. (We thought the least he could have offered us was some discount towards a future stay there (without the grandson!!.))

i would just like to warn others regarding this - and perhaps people will realise that if they encounter any problems with this apartment, then dont expect any sympathy from the owner!!!!

A really great place to stay. 5 mins walk from Ambleside. Very well maintained and comfortable. What a pity that when we arrived late (numerous reasons!) we got a very frosty grueling as to why we were late?! We were then left to our own devices, not told how to get to the village, (there is a short cut, but we didn't know) and generally treated as if we smelt bad when we went to the office. To be fair, Ambleside is overpriced (restaurants) and one is generally treated as if you're an irritation - except for Lucy's!

We stayed in Langdale apartment. Beautiful four poster bed,
comfortable lounge, and a wonderful patio. Everything was so good we are going back at the end of March this year. This will be our fourth time. Most of our friends have stayed at Kirkstone Pass and have gone back many times.

Just returned from a weekend in the roomy scafell apartment. Bedding, towels & heating inc in the price!! Have also stayed in the mardale apartment and thats as good!
Brilliant location - leave the car and take a short stroll down the hill and your in ambleside - the less sprightly may not appreciate the hike back up peggy hill!!
Plenty of walks from the doorstep - no need to use the car!

I have stayed at the Kirkstone Foot Hotel in one of the detached flats on several occasions.
Last year we had the oportunity to stay in one of the new self containined flats within the hotel itself, and found it to be exceptional.
I could not fault the hospitality, the standard of the room or the grounds.
This is one of our favourite destinations for visiting the lakes.
