We have just returned from a two night stay at the Riverside. Although it was a busy bank holiday weekend, we felt we were in the peace and tranquility of the beautiful Cumbrian countryside. They B&B is on a quiet road right next to the River Rothay. We arrived early, but could drop off our bags until our room was ready. We were given a key and came back after lunch to find our bags in our room. David and Brenda are very friendly, yet the place is large enough to feel that you're not intruding into someone's house. Complimentary biscuits, mints and a selection of drinks were in the room. There was a folder of information about Ambleside which is an easy 10 min stroll into town. There are beautiful terraced gardeds which we were free to sit in. Breakfast was wonderful. Fruit smoothies, homemade bread. The full veggie breakfast included homemade potato cakes. I would definitely recommend it!

We have just returned from a fantastic 2 day break in what can be described as the best B&B we have ever stayed. Brenda and David are brilliant hosts without imposing. Room 4 and ensuite which we stayed in was clean and fresh and we were provided with bottled water, tea, coffee and biscuits. The breakfast was the best, I am a vegetarian and I still enjoyed a full english, with beautiful homemade bread. Would not hesitate to return and highly reccommend to all.
Ambleside as some lovely eating places we tried Zefferellis 2 course meal with cinema ticket for £16.95 each, the meal was beautiful, the place had a wonderful atmosphere. We also tried Sheilas Cottage which was not the best. Other good places to try are Glass House, Lucys on a Plate and Lucy 4.

Highly recommend a stay at Riverside. Brenda and Dave were excellent hosts, and recommended walks and restaurants in Ambleside.

Location: A few minutes walk through the park, was secluded and quiet. Beautiful gardens. Loved the fact it wasn't on a road full of B&B's!
Rooms: comfortable and spotlessly clean - lovely view of the hillside:
Breakfast: Delicious - beautifully presented and the homemade breads were a great touch.

We were made to feel very welcome by Brenda and David. Top quality service, and great food (especially the home made bread). It is only a short walk from Ambleside, and Brenda and David were very helpful in sharing their knowledge of the area, and suggesting places to visit and eat. We consider this the best B&B that we have stayed in and was better than most hotels we have stayed in. Well deserving of the excellent comments on this site and the awards. We are looking forward to going back.

Lovely B&B in beautiful gardens and surroundings. Very friendly and helpful proprietors, but not imposing in any way. Very short walk into Ambleside. Fantastic breakfasts, including homemade bread. Definately recommended.
