We booked this hotel through "take time out", the one night stay was a present from my daughter for Mothers Day, when we arrived at the hotel, it did look quite impressive, however, when we checked in we were advised that we were booked into a room in the annexe. On entering the room the first thing that entered my mind was "youth hostel". The decor was very shabby to say the least, the storage heater on the wall did not work, although a portable heater had been left in the room, and had been plugged in by some one at the hotel, this too did not work. At the time of booking my husband was offered the chance of a room upgrade which at the time, we did'nt think was necessary. On seeing the room we had been allocated, we decided to enquire at reception about the possibility of a room upgrade and was advised that there were'nt any available, I pointed out to the receptionist that I did'nt feel the room was very comfortable to which she took great exception, I advised her that the heaters did'nt work and that the room was cold, the bathroom and toilet were shared but were very uninviting. The receptionist then asked me to leave the hotel altogether, which to be quite honest shocked me at the time, but after leaving both myself and my husband were extremely relieved. How this accomodation can possibly be classified as a hotel is beyond me. We then booked into another accomodation in Bowness which I might add was £2.00 per night extra per person than the Forest Side including breakfast and the difference between the two was amazing. My advice to anyone thinking of booking into this hotel would be DONT. Considering this was a present from my daughter I have been left totally disillusioned at the prospect of some other poor unsuspecting victim ending up in the same situation. I.E. having been bought a gift only to find themselves unable to use it!!!
