“Good for those with young families or dogs!”

The Old Vicarage

10 Mar 2008

We have just come back from a weekend stay here and were not disappointed. We have a young daughter and had booked a suite which had a separate room for her, and was big enough for her to roam around quite happily (we brought our own travel cot, and there would probably have been room for two cots in the second room). The room was modern, clean, had DVD and video player and there were plenty of videos/DVDs which we could borrow for the evening dotted around the hotel.

On arrival we were offered tea in the lounge with a roaring open fire going which was really nice as it was a cold and miserable day outside, and throughout our stay all our needs were accomodated with great flexibility. Quite a few people had dogs there, which caused no issues at all for us, my daughter loved them!

They were quite happy with us bringing a take-away back to our room in the evening and provided plates and cutlery no problem. The pool was lovely, very warm, and a great way of entertaining a small child for a morning or afternoon.

Overall we had a really great time here, and would definitely recommend it for anyone with a young family - book a suite!

“Absolutely wonderful”

The Old Vicarage

This was my first visit and will certainly not be my last. Stayed for 2 nights and everything was perfect. The owners and staff were wonderful, couldn't do enough for you. We stayed in the family room which has a lovely big bathroom with spa bath and powerful shower. Full english breakfast was great - and you can get your flask filled before you hit the hills. Would recommend to everyone.

“lovely people and place”

The Old Vicarage

1 Mar 2008

the old vicarage is a great building in the centre of ambleside, it offers friendly, clean and homely accomodation for a fair price. We chose it as a dog friendly b&b after reading reviews on tripadvisor and were not disapointed. A great bonus is the swimming pool and hot tub to ease those aching limbs after a day on the fells. Decor is chintzy and old fashinoned, but its the lakes! what else do you need or want. Breakfast was great, highly reccomended

“An Amazing stay to relax!”

The Old Vicarage

My boyfirend and I have just come back from a 3 night stay at the the old vicarage at Ambleside and i will certainly be returning!!
When we arrived there was the owner waiting to greet us and help us with our bags. He was so welcoming and even made a cup of coffee for us in the lounge so we could put our feet up and relax. The room was lovely and the bath with the wirlpool was very luxurious! If wanting a quiet night in there are hundreds of films situated around the hotel so there is always something to watch. The pool and hot tub was amazing and very relaxing after a hard days walk. We were spoilt as it was so quiet we had the pool and tub to our selves for most of the time so i definately reccommend going on the quiet times of the year. Although around the lakes the attractions were mostly seasonal we always found the clothes shops to be open and obviously plenty of walks to be done. The staff at the vicarage were always willing to help and reccomend places to eat. For the younger couple there is a small night club on Wed and Sat at the pub on the main street as you come out of B and B. The breakfast was simple but just right and freshly cooked.
I have had a fantstic time and will be definately coming back next year!

Probably the most hospitable place we have stayed. The owners and staff could not do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. The family room is very spacious with a beautiful bathroom. It has a jacuzzi style bath and large shower cubicle. The complimentary dressing gowns and slippers were ideal for use in the pool area which is very relaxing and very clean. Breakfast is great and more than enough to set you up for the day. The building is beautiful and the extension is sympathetically buillt to blend in with the main building. Though just off the main road through, the B&B is secluded and very quiet. An ideal location and an ideal place to stay. Highly recommended. We will return.
