We've been to Wynford now for several week long trips and have nothing but praise for this gorgeous little guest house.
The owners, Pam and Steve Parsons, make you feel so welcome that you almost feel like part of the family. There are three bedrooms, two on the first floor with fantastic views Loughrigg Fell, and one on the ground floor (which we've never been in so can't comment on). The rooms are well equipped and beautifully clean, with nice touches like hot chocolate and herb teas along with the usual tea and coffee on the hospitality tray.
The house is situated down an old lane which leads to the beginning (or end) of the Fairfield Horseshoe mountain range, so it is ideal for walks right from the doorstep. There is virtually no passing traffic and it is perfectly located in that its just slightly outside the hustle and bustle of Ambleside but close enough to walk in for meals in one of the many pubs or restaurants the village has to offer.
The breakfasts are wonderful with a choice of cereals, fruits and yoghurt, followed by Pam's renowned full Cumbrian, finished off with toast and preserves, and are served in a dining room looking out over the beautifully maintained gardens, complete with two well-visited bird-tables.
We almost hesitate to advertise it as we'd like to keep in all to ourselves!
