This Hotel although seeming to offer luxurious accomodation did not come up to expectations. The food although looking good was bland in parts and somewhat chefy rather than delicious. My bedroom was very impracticle with no draw space limited wardrobe and a dwarf sized bath. The dining area carpet needed replacing and my chair although my fault for dropping crumbs had not been cleaned overnight. Would not return or recommend.

We have just returned from a weekend in the Regent Hotel. We stayed in a garden room. The room was quite large and very clean. The bathroom was ok although maybe ready for a coat of paint. The bed was very comfortable, and it is a nice touch to have bath robes.
The meals were excellent and the service was very good. Only one downside both nights we returned to the hotel at 11:20 to have a night cap in the bar. Both times we were told the bar was shutting but we could have a glass of wine and take it to our room Surely in a good hotel like this it is not too much to ask to have a drink in the hotel bar before 11:30.

We've just returned from a very pleasant two night stay at the Regent. We booked into the Sail Loft - probably the best room in the hotel - which was very warm and comfortable in spite of the rain battering on the windows which stopped us making use of the nice little balcony overlooking the lake. I can imagine that some of the smaller rooms overlooking the carpark might not be as pleasant and spacious so perhaps it's worth paying a little extra for the extras like dressing gowns and a sitting area. The bathroom was particularly good - big power shower and spa bath.

We were very impressed with both dinner and breakfast - all served by delightful Polish girls. I had the best 'posh' rice pudding ever!

The hotel's in a good location for both town - about a ten/fifteen minute walk - and for setting off on walks. All the staff were very helpful so all in all a good spot for a good value break.

This hotel is lovely, the rooms are clean and fresh, spacious and with tv, dvd player, radio and other mod cons. The room was decorated to a high standard. The bed was very comfortable and bedding soft and warm enough for our October stay.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and made every effort to make our stay pleasant. The hotel lobby was nicely decorated to a modern style but retaining the traditional features of the buliding.
Breakfast was tasty and served quickly and hot - very nice dining room and attentive staff.
Our evening meal was very nice - my steak was slightly overdone but when we mentioned it to the manager he assured us it wouldnt appear on our bill (which it didnt). Both breakfast and evening menus had a varied choice and the specials were changed daily.
Overall, a very nice clean hotel, would recommend to others and visit again.
