What an excellent place this is! We had no complaints at all and would definitely go back again.
David & Christine were excellent hosts and made a real effort to help us by providing lists of restaurants ahead of our stay. The B&B is just a 5minute walk away from the centre of Ambleside but tucked away and tranqil at the same time.

Our room, Elterwater was spotlessly clean with soap, shampoo, towels and other toiletries provided for the duration of our stay, it was also warm and had lovely views.
The English breakfasts served up are very tasty plus on Saturday afternoon we got back to find two slices of home made cake wrapped up for us. We had these with a nice afternoon cup of tea - delightful!

We really enjoyed our stay at Kingswood. Both David and Christine are both very friendly and welcoming. Our room was 'Brathay' on the first floor. The bed was just so comfortable.
One of the reasons we chose Kingswood was because it was near restaurants etc for an evening out, and we found it was very handy indeed. Even though it was close to amenities it was still in a peaceful location. I don't want to repeat what previous reviewers have wrote apart from agreeing with them 100%.
We would not hesitate in returning to Kingswood or recommending it to our friends.

Copy of email I sent to the hotel today.....

Dear David & Christine,

Just a little email to thank you both once again for making us so welcome at your beautiful guesthouse.

It is so obvious that you both take so much pride in your, well I can't call it a business, because it is so much more than that! We both loved everything about our stay, the immaculate room, the comfortable bed, the little witty notes, the bathroom, your DVD library, your plush carpets, the crisp table linen, the cutlery and so many other things that we noticed and would take us ages to list. (oh.....and the fresh fruit cake, I loved that touch!!)

Its so rare to visit somewhere which meets your expectations and almost unheard of for it to exceed them!! You thoroughly deserve your Silver Award, and to be honest, we can't think of a single thing that could be improved upon for you to attain Gold Status.

Wishing you both all the very best for the coming year, we will definitely be recommending you, and we will definitely come back.

Kind regards,
David & Debbie

We have just returned home from a short break in the Lakes. We chose Kingswood in Ambleside to be closer to "things to do" especially with the short days and long dark evenings in November. It was perfect. The B+B run by David and Christine is excellent. We were warmly welcomed, David had said we could arrive whenever we liked (if it was early they would let us leave our bags), as it was we were there at 12 noon and our room was ready. The room was delightful - we had "Elterwater", it is downstairs and has patiodoors to the garden. There are lots of birdfeeders in the garden, - and birds, and there is a bird book in the room to check out the birds you see! The bed was comfy, the ensuite was excellent, there was flat screen TV and DVD with a selection of DVD's on the landing. The atmosphere in the house is very relaxing, there are lots of "bits and pieces" to catch your interest as you walk through to your room - mostly related to bees in someway! Breakfast was very good. David serves the food with gentle witty conversation, (sufficient to melt anyone the least bit grumpy), and Christine cooks. The web site does not do justice to the breakfast room, it is a lovely room, and the tables are set crisp and clean.
Overall,we really enjoyed our stay. We had lots of advice about where to eat in the evening, and found Ambleside a very warm and friendly place to stay.

“Must BEE the best”

Kingswood - Ambleside

4 Aug 2007

This is the best b & b we have stayed at in 20 years!

The hospitality, house, decor, food and service could not be bettered. They just went that extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. A lovely couple with a great sense of humour.

Will definitely be going back.
