Myself and a friend stayed at Winder Hall in December and we thought the place was wonderful.

Beautiful building, idyllic location, outstanding views, staff were fantastic and incredibly welcoming, room was lovely and the food was delicious. It really is worth spending the extra for dinner, don't even consider going elsewhere!

We felt very lucky to have stumbled across this gem (thank you Tripadvisor reviewers!) and were so pleased with our stay that we paid them a little extra. I hope to return to the Lake District this year and would not consider staying anywhere else.

Stayed here for a couple of days for walking in the area,a little difficult to find but well worth the effort. The atmosphere was relaxing from the word go. The food was of a very high standard matched with the excellent room and attention to service. Remember swimwear to take advantage of the hot tub and sauna. Which although down the garden ( a bit chilly when we were there) is relaxing with lovely views of the grounds.we look forward to our next visit when time allows. we would (and have) recommended this lovely hall to our friends.

Found this on the web, and it just looked amazing. We booked a full week, and it exceeded all our expectations... Glorious location, incredibly delicious food (thanks Helen), bedrooms with all the comforts of home, superbly helpful (and gorgeous) staff, stunning views, delightful walks - AND those afternoon teas with home-made cakes. Oh yes, and the cocktails and canapes. And the great packed lunches. And the sauna. And, and, and. THOROUGHLY recommended.

We were recommended to Winderhall by a popular hotel which was full. What luck!!!From the moment that we contacted Winderhall we felt truly special. On arrival we not only received a lovely welcome but also a complimentary delicious selection of cakes and fresh coffee. We were extremely impressed with our room, the food and the ambience; Winderhall offers comfort, style and class without any pretentiousness! We will certainly recommend this fabulous place to our friends...but not before we make a return booking ourselves!!!

We stayed at WinderHall for our honeymoon in April. We booked it after looking at their website which was very helpful and clear.

We arrived to be greeted by Nick, the owner and chef. Nick lives there with his family and was so friendly and helpful.

Our room was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. It even had a huge fireplace complete with priest hole! The bed was comfy too.

The food was amazing - we chose this place partly on Nick's stance of using local food and fairtrade tea and coffee. We arrived just in time for afternoon tea served with homemade rocky road and flapjack in the comfortable and relaxing lounge.

Dinner was a feast! Homemade canapes and drinks followed by four courses. Over the two nights we had lamb, fish, sirloin and so much more all followed by coffee and delicious homemade truffles. Breakfast was fantastic too - eggs from their own chickens and the best smoked haddock I've had anywhere.

Sorry to be so gushing, but I really cannot think of one thing that I didn't like at this place. Highly recommended for a few days of R & R!
