My Wife and I have just returned from our second stay at Winder Hall and had an utterly fantastic time.
I wanted to write one last year but didn't get round to it, so I thought I'd strike when the iron is still warm.
Actually this a very difficult review to write as it's difficult not to heap praise on the team at Winder Hall and sound like some bad advert.
You feel really welcome and everyone is really talkative and attentive but not invasive, if you get my meaning.
It's so relaxed it makes the whole experience relaxing.
The food is excellent, the full Cumbrian breakfast sets you up for the day (the bacon is from their own pigs, the eggs from their own hens). You can sit with some tea & cake in the afternoon and choose you evening meal. The choice of wine is great and they have a good choice of the local Jennings beer.
The room was great with a new slate tile shower and a marvelous brass bed (Not in all rooms as each is different).
The sauna is a great bonus, made more entertaining by the surreal sight of sheep grazing in the field in front.
In fact the only negative I can even think of was the auto close strut for the door of our room was a little cantankerous. That's it.
Not exactly a huge gripe is it?
For a weekend break it's ideal, go just don't tell too many people so it doesn't get spoilt.
